went through a very lengthy phone loan application with HSBC & agreed loan at 7.5% apr; all I had to do was go into branch & sign papers. Got there to find it was processed at a substantially higher interest rate than initially agreed. I refused to sign and lodged a complaint. I haven't heard anything yet but given I was told that the agreed loan application was valid for 14 days, are they now obliged to fulfil their promise? I'm a bit pussed off because it's fir a new motorhome, & I've now lost the deal.

Dunno, do you have proof of the lower rate offer?

According to the local branch they record all their phone calls.

Ring them up and ask then? - the calls are recorded for their benefit not yours so they may not play ball

Northern Rock tried that one with me a few years back.

When they found themselves in the poo I had a smile to myself and thought it serves them right.

Go somewhere else; if they are like this at the start, they are not likely to be the greatest if you need something.
