why does everyone compare everything to obama at the moment?

[Slumdog Millionaire] film is Obama-like: people want to see the film, and they want to feel this film has changed their lives. It lifts them, makes them happy.

Because comparisons with JFK feel old-fashioned.

That's actually quite an interesting quote. Note that it says nothing about Obama, only about what people project onto him.

The equivalent comparison with Brown might be Confessions of a Shopaholic is Brown-like; people are forced to see it, it makes them feel angry and helpless.

It's not really a comparison with Obama per se, but with a mass random motivation of people.

You need to read the Eye, their Obamaballs column is nothing short of hilarious! If not also a little worrying!
