Ah yes Scramble. I remember playing that in Corfu in 1983 with a BA pilot who was absolutely rubbish at it and continually crashed within about 10 seconds. I seem to remember it got quite tricky when the scrolling landscape started to come down from the top of the screen as well as the bottom.

many memories of various games, some real classics mentioned above!

the ones that stuck with me are Sega Rally and Time Crisis II. So much so that I rented both and had them at my wedding a few years ago and had them on free play. Some good times relived!

I remember one called Cisco Heat, where one player drove and shot a gun and the second player was passenger and just got to shoot.

Chase HQ was a big favourite too!

This takes me back, I've worked on a few of these when I was at Sega. Also worked for Bandai/Namco, and a couple other firms when they were all based at Brent Av in NW10. Started at Sega around the time of Daytona (98?) so worked some later dross and some classics like Crazy Taxi.

We did the big 3-monitor F355 simulator which was one of the first games to use GPS data for the tracks. We played the snot out of it for months, lap record of Monza was hotly contested in the factory, was IMPOSSIBLE to go faster. Then we put one in Barrichello's home gym as a publicity thing, and he'd broken the record within 5 laps, before we'd even tidied up the bubblewrap. Gutted.

Can never resist a cheeky spin on Daytona if I see a knackered one at a m-way services or the ferry.

Loved driving games - Ridge Racer, Hard Drivin', Sega Rally, Daytona USA... Mostly sit down cabs.

Street Fighter 2 a lot. Mortal Kombat almost as much.

Platformers like Black Tiger, Ghouls and Ghosts.

Being of a certain age I cut my teeth on the likes of Pacman, Scramble, Space Invaders, Frogger and so on.

Then I let loose on the likes of:

Gauntlet - always one particular mate and I buddying up with the same group down on the pier
Dragons Lair - so nearly completed it (IIRC after collecting the 'solution' cards in those old skool bubblegum packs?)
Spy Hunter - just for the music
Star Wars - say no more
Kung Fu Master?
Marble Madness - remember the trackball knackering your arm out?
Ghosts and Goblins

Double Dragon, Kung Fu Master, Splatter House, Rolling Thunder and the four player TMNT game. Ben Shaws pop bottles funded my coin op addiction. King Fu Master had such a good soundtrack and required insane timing. I’d love an original cabinet.
