my dad has spent 18 to 20 months restoring this from a pile of rust

[img] [/img]

that was taken 6 months or back, it is now totally finished with a nice chrome exhaust and comp box. He used to ride one (well a Hawkstone - but the Scottish is not much different) when he was a young man and has thoroughly enjoyed restoring this one!

I'm currently building one of these as a clubmans race bike for the Scottish and UK Classic race series.

Watch this space - it'll look very little like that once I'm done with it. And I will ride the balls off it too..... 😈

I have a nice light alloy 2ls drum if you want - should be eligible - off a Yamaha YD7 I believe

I've not had a chance to have a go myself yet! I know dad has briefly ridden it, as has my brother's father in law who helped with the build (photo was taken in his workshop) but it has run no more than a couple of miles so far!
I'm encouraging dad to get a helmet, gloves and jacket, get it a day use only MOT and take it out a few times over the dry months. I know he will get a huge thrill if he does that, even if he just rides it on the road! I'm concerned it may end up as just a show bike though....I'll do my best to ensure it doesn't!

Oh yes! Definitely interested. I'm going to run the proper mans old race bike so no disc allowed. Send me details please Jerry. PS - are you still wanting to sell your Enfield?

Cool. I'm in India until November but I'll give you a call when I get home

Just out of hospital! Had to have kidney stones surgically removed - scary experience I can tell you!

Also considering turning this into a race bike - it's 90% of the way there with the engine and suspension mods we have done to it already...

[img] [/img]

Managed to squeeze 140+ out of it without a fairing! Was bloody hard work though...

And if anyone doubts it come on down and I'll show you...

Bikes is our lives

Ouch indeed! In the end I had to have the surgery here in India - I was not a happy person.

I would not wish that pain on anyone!

zedsdead,

do you work for those guys?

The reason I ask is that my Dad has a number of old British bikes, in various states of build, which spare parts are becoming particularly scarce and he has been trying to find somebody who could/would be able to make things when he needs them?

Hey turin. I am one of theose guys.

We have a workshop full of machines and we haven't found anything we can't make so far. And we are bloody good at it too. We pride ourselves on taking the original and making it better too! We've even had crashed and mangled forks and made them way better than the original! Rebuild, restorations, engine tuning - you name it! We also specialise in taking on the jobs that nobody wants to because they see it as a lost cause - to us there is no such thing. And we've done it time and time again.

Feel free to drop me an email any time. We can always help. And are always happy to have a chat too. You bring the biccys and we'll provide the coffee.

Cheers

PS _ I do keep telling the old man to update the website but we're too busy building bikes, and racing! One day...... lol

Thanks for that

excellent Ill let him know, he is pretty handy at most of the rebuilding and has taken them from a box of bits to running but its the scarcity of parts and some of the intricate bits that he needs some help with.

He lives in the central belt but if I tell him about you lot he could be making a trip north, after calling first and getting the biscuits 😆

His pride is hopefully shown below, not his but the same, i keep trying to convince him to let me have a shot of it but no luck yet!!!

Aaaah! Now that's lovely!

Yep - we can definitely help. We have a massive passion for old Brit bikes.

We also have a truck so can pick up and drop off for you too.

PS - keep asking, you never know your luck. ;D

Ah yes RD350LC's. Marking my dad'd elsie's position in the garage with a pencil and then sneaking out on it at lunchtimes from college. Microns the works. Never had bigger grins on my face!!! And then the "oh yes I've seen you've been riding my bike" mentioned in passing and nothing said anymore!

Used to love watching them racing at Snetterton, New Era etc.

I have an MZETZ251 on a K plate in pretty good condition. Not been on the road for about 12 years now, sitting in my dad's garage. I must get it back to france to paly around with.

RINGADINGRINGDINGDINGRING.....

Loving this thread! Shame I don't have any photos of mine and my dad'd bikes with me here in Azerbaijan.

Just bought my middle lad one of these:

Forgot how good the smell of 2-stroke oil is.

If anyone is looking for a moped, can't go wrong, especially for just over a grand new - and will de-restrict to 44mph, so can actually keep up with traffic.
