however i currently am, and am owed around £300 so far (£300 that i really really need right now)
do i have to wait until next april to claim that money back or can i do it now (or when i finish work for the summer in a few weeks?)
cheers
Try calling HMRC - they're surprisingly helpful about these things. (EDIT - not meant as a JFGI sort of response - they have actually been really good when I've called with self employment/VAT sort of questions)
Check here: HMRC. If you didn't fill out a form at the beginning of the summer hols, then you just need to complete a different form and send off with your P45 once you finish work.
cheers!
If you're sure you won't be earning any more this tax year, then a rebate will be easy (I did this a couple of years ago). I'm pretty sure there are other ways of getting tax back if you may work again, but as thepurist says, give them a call ... I've always found them really helpful.
