Why don't you shut the f up and put some bloody music on? And why does every radio station think we want to listen to crap comedians as we wake up? Wtf?

Why don't YOU just put a CD on if all you want to listen to is music? 😛

+1 for Scott Mills for breakfast though. Grimmy is very poor indeed.

I think not playing much music was the best bit about the show! The Radio 1 playlist is generally awful these days so the less of it the better (and any complaints that "any records he did play were crap" - do you really think he had any choice as to what he plays on a mainstream breakfast show?...)

I'm quite said he's leaving Radio One.

As I don't listen to it.

The worrying thing now is he could pop up anywhere. 😕

Mills is awful. His moronic female sidekick even worse.

Moyles is a sad loss, but best of luck to grimmy.

I used to try to listen to radio 1 in the car between bouts of radio 4. I couldn't stand Moyles and as much as I applaud his 10M quid raised for charity, I'm fairly sure most other radio 1 DJs on the same show could have done close to the same.

I was in the "don't like him but don't really care about him on radio1" until his stupid rant about being paid late a couple of years back. The complete lack of sensitivity when listeners were losing jobs and homes in their thousands and he was moaning about part of his 1 million pound salary not turning up on time and then when people pointed it out, was unapologetic about it. Egotistical ****.

I actually didn't mind his rant. Regardless of how much he earns and what people think of him his entitled to get paid isn't he? Just because it's more than the average person doesn't mean he shouldn't get paid on time like everyone else. As for ranting live on air, maybe not the best move but if you've got a powerful tool to hand and your hacked off your going to use it. As for sensitivity, it's not one of his trademarks.

Im far from his biggest fan but I found the rest of the 'gang' more annoying as they seemed genuinely bereft of any talend. Comedy Dave and Dom in particular. Stick with Kerrang and R4 mostly nowadays.

He split opinion which is no bad thing

Between people who hate him and people who really don't like him?

@Binners, if we get enough interest when can we all come around for a listen?

Any way, never mind that big wind bag. Talking about a loss to broadcasting, has anyone heard any rumours about a return of Adam and Joe at some point? Now that was morning radio like no other.

#looks at Black Squadron uniform with unending sense of loss...#

Well, i AM a fan of the Moyles Show.
I like the lack of the bilge that the charts throw up, and replaced by funny banter, pubquiz, Golden Hour etc. Inclusive radio.
Grimmy is just going to play s**t chart tunes and dance to the corporate line. Good Northern humour, though, good luck to him with the resultant ratings crash.
Scott Mills is older than Moyles so how could he take over the show...
So it's 5Live from now on, Evans was good back in the day but now...nah.

Binners

What worries me is where he'll pop up next. Given the BBC's track record of once giving George Lamb his own show on 6 music...

-That still gives me nightmares. That bloke was the reason that my former colleagues turned against 6Music and we were forced to return to Key 103.

When he moved to weekend mornings, it ruined many a Saturday.

Why is anybody over about 24 listening to R1 anyway?

6Music and R4 all the way.

6Music and R4 all the way.

Indeed, infact they should in my opinion be under the same content controller, as opposed to lumping it with R2.

Jon Holmes did rip on George lamb quite mercilessly though, which I liked.

Tom Ravenscroft FTW!

6 Music at home and at work. Radio 4 in the car (no DAB)

Radio 1 is for young retards, Radio 2 is for old b*stards.

I think James Corden said it best on the show yesterday.

You've got a group of friends every morning. It doesn't matter where you are, you've got these friends who never exclude you every morning.

The more you listen, the more you become part of it, that's the reason we've stuck with it for so long. It's going to be like losing a group of mates in the morning that you happen to be in the car with.

This group of friends obviously wasn't to everyone's taste but the fact that Moyles was able to generate this feeling of bellonging and empathy amoungst his fans certainly isn't because he is a "bit of a dick".

I'm certainly going to miss having the company and the laughs on my journey to work every morning.

The forthcoming tour sounds . . . . . special . . . . . it will be the first and last time . . . TFFT!!

On tour in October with his cast of radio sidekicks.

The shows are set to last 80 minutes and will feature a live band, games involving audience participation and a live question and answer session.

According to The Sun, a source said of Moyles' plans for the tour: "It's the first and last time Chris and his team will perform to a paying audience. They will be getting the audience really involved, be it singing with them or just playing games."

Average age of a Radio 1 listener is 32 apparently (you've got Google, look it up).

I'm 32, but haven't really listened to it for 10 years. 6 Music for me and a mix of Radio 4/5Live for the car.

What annoys me is that ALL radio is people talking in the mornings. There's no station I know of that plays music, they all think we want two blokes trying to have a good time. Ok fine many people do, but there's no choice.

6 Music plays great music all day, including in the morning. And if you listen to Shaun Keveney, you can get him to give you a middle aged shout out on a Friday to celebrate you creosoting your fence, or something. I've had quite a few. I got us all a collective one for Hit the North 😀

was he ,chris moyles the talentless bloke, who just played with records for a living, and had his gang of equally talentless cronies wired to laugh at his crap and childish jokes.

Hopefully like the fish i just had for dinner, i will not need to think or even remember the fish or him for the forseeable future.

But at least the fish was tasty and well enjoyed.

Indeed, a positive side effect of the lack of publicity for 6Music is that if your wife texts in whilst you're driving along there's a good chance that you can get an, ahem, shout-out(!).

Lauren Laverne reading your name out -proud, it brings a tear to my eye.

Prof Brian Cox is also on with Shaun Keaveny on a Friday and has been for some years, since before he became TV's favourite physicist.

ps. for you folks who can't get DAB in the car:

I have one of those, I can't stand wires all over the dash, so a solution needs to be found.

And on the subject of 6 music - it's ok sometimes, there is still too much talking and too much of the Jazz Club vibe about it at times.

I didn't mind Moyles when he had his afternoon slot but he just seemed to loose it when he got the morning show. Haven't listened to him in years and normally stick my ipod on on the way to work as Evans has a habit of rabbiting on to much and talking over the records for my liking and local radio is just dire.

The last time I listened to R1 Zoe Ball was doing the breakfast show, and I stopped after she left and went over to Tel on R2. I only ever heard Moyles when in an environment that had R1 on, and I can say with authority that his crappy show never improved over the years I was forced to listen to it as a captive audience. Lamb was even worse, he stopped me listening to 6 up to LaLa's show at 10. I'll miss Moyles in the same way that I miss having a migraine.

Like the loud, rowdy group of 'friends' who colonise a corner of your favourite pub, and who only include those whose loud, boorish, and obnoxious behaviour closely matches their own.

Why were you listening to a show by a fat 14 yr old that was targeted at fat 14 yr olds? All this assumes that you are not a fat 14 yr old.

Moyles and his team haven't caused too much annoyance over the years. Nowhere near as annoying as the likes of Jo Whiley, Vernon Kay and Westwood.

To replace Moyles Radio 1 have gone for quite possibly the most irritating streak of floppy haired piss in the world, Nick Grimshaw. Hate is a strong word and one I won't use unless I mean it. But I HATE Nick Grimshaw. King of the c*%ts.

I might down pop down the bookies to bet on how short Grimshaw's radio 1 career will be.

Interesting counter argument.
I just find it incredible that you are happy to see the back of someone who you have no time for and, I guess, never listened too. I also guess you're not from the target market and will probably hate his replacement too. I was amused by the "good riddance" comment, it seems a bit odd to me as you have been affected by someone you don't care about.

Mental note (must be aware not to be too affected (because is was-deeply) by people i dont care about when expressing my opinion regarding questioned subject) thanks, anyway glad your fat and 14.

I have one of those, I can't stand wires all over the dash, so a solution needs to be found.

My Pure Highway sits under the passenger seat/footwell mat, all wires concealed:
Antenna runs along the centre console and tucked into the pocket on the back of the passenger seat.
Power lead (when plugged in)runs from the fag lighter downwards
Line-out fed behind centre console and up into the glove-box line-in socket.

Very discrete and I only use it for 6Music so don't need to change stations.

My main concern is at least you knew where he was and could avoid him. Occasionally had to listen to him if I ended up in theatre early. Over many years I don't think his show changed and went from being obnoxious and over inflated opinion of his own self worth to being that and tired too.

He is the drunk boor in the pub you would avoid. He may improve with time like Jo Whiley who was very annoying on Radio 1 but I now like her evening Radio 2 show. Somehow I doubt it and suspect he will end up on tv game shows which is good because I never watch that kind of crap

people have the right to their own opinions . . .

but, there is such thing as bad taste and it's being exhibited here . . . .
