Chinese head torches

Anyone used any of the mega lumens head torches from ebay etc?

This sort of thing.

Bright 350000LM T6 LED Headlamp Headlight Head Zoom Torch 18650 Rechargeable UK | eBay

Got plenty of small Petzl things but I want some big light for the garden. I accept quality will be on a par with the bike lights etc of this ilk. The idea of 18650 batteries appeals as I use them for other things.

Just wondering how dodgy they are.

I have no idea. But I'm not entirely sure that I'd want to take a £13 "350000 Lumen" torch powered by Chinese no-name batteries and strap it to my head.

I'm going to buy a Wuben E7 head torch at some point.

I own a Wuben c3 and that is a nicely made torch. I expect the e7 to be just as good.

It's ok plenty of branded items you will happily store next to your body are simply Chinese items with a brand in.

I've got 2 orange versions of that headtorch- had them for about 5 years use them every winter for running in the hills.

I do have branded 18650* for them and I use a similarly branded charger to charge them outside the head torch.

All the Alpkit head torches are Chinese made and perfectly fine. I have a couple of mega lux bike lights that are amazing! that said, I only charge them when I can keep an eye on them, and accept that they will go up in smoke at some point ( heated gilet as well!).

Interesting, as I originally read the thread title as "Chinese head torture'

Find the one you like on Amazon with decent reviews and then search for it on AliExpress - the one I liked on Amazon was 30 quid - found the exact same one on AliExpress for 14 quid shipped from China.

I’ve got some Ultrafire batteries, been using them for years along with a really excellent Ultrafire LED torch. 🤷‍♂️

There’s a difference between excellent Chinese engineering and shit Chinese engineering. The link in the OP kinda stinks based on it claiming 350k lumens.

it’s kinda like the difference between excellent British engineering and shit British engineering…. Spot the common denominator here? It’s not the nationality, it’s the quality.
