The old body is getting pretty beat up now, from MTbiking, motorcycling, kayaking, woodworking and general wear and tear.
So how about a 'show me your scars' thread?

3rd-degree pedal rash. Was my first day with Kyle strait pads, having previously used pads with full shin coverage. Landed a jump at Chicksands and slipped the pedals and bobs your uncle...
[img] [/img]
Broken Tibial Plateau, sustained from an OTB into the rock garden at Gethin DH track South Wales.

[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]
Pedal rash, but cleverly, to the back of the leg...
[img] [/img]

Anyone got any good ones?

I don't think I can show my scar without breaking T&Cs. Suffice to say, an inch to the left and I've been a little girl by now.

I've broken shit loads of stuff over the years... No scars really to show off though....

Both ankles
Wrist
Clavical
Most of my fingers
ALL of my toes (at the same time)
had bits of floating shin removed from my ankle
sliced the side/end of my left index finger off, was worked on by Army medical staff at selly oak as the local hospital said they were going to take my finger! so I drove myself to Selly oak, The army doctors sorted me right out and kept me in over night to make sure the graft from my back took.
smashed coccyx
Cracked my skull above and behind right eye socket
Knocked out 2 teeth
several ribs at different times, always trying rails either on my skate or snowboard or fighting.
several other minor things, Tendon damage and so on..

Love the NHS me....

No, but when you ride at the limits of what is possible on a mountainbike like what I does, accidents can happen 😉

@cinnamon_girl - nosed in too early on some dirt jumps riding the bmx, cased it over the bars and smashed my collarbone. Had to drive an hour home afterwards too. Doc did a top job of pinning and plating it all back together.

No, I wouldn't appreciate a scar on a woman.
Some are better than others to live with, obviously.
And some are necessary.

Most of mine are behind the eyes.

That reminds me of a fella I met who had broken his collar bone at Thetford forest.

I drove him in his car to Bury St Edmunds hospital, to get him patched up.

That's made me feel sick.
Sadly c_g men don't like scars on women and mine are on my knees, so visable in the summer.

Its quite near the bottom, before the road gap. Its quite brutal really and has cost me a broken leg and a smashed up face, despite wearing full face. Here is Dan Atherton making it look like nowt...

Well, I certainly wouldn't dream of posting pics but following Summer's road crash, I now have scars on both elbows and both knees, very small scar on face, tea-plate sized haematoma that did have some bruising on it (another fall), scars on calves from flat pedal pins.

I'm not a good advertisement for riding a bike or acting my age. 😳

I used to go out with a girl that had a scar that ran from the nape of her neck to the small of her back and it was really was rather attractive, although it did make you wonder whether you could unzip her and keep your pyjamas inside.

See I like scars, I wouldn't wish one on anyone obviously but they all tell a story, I've got friends with scars from car crashes, falling off bikes, my younger brother has one from his collar bone to his belly button where the cracked his chest at 6 to sort his heart,, an older brother with scars on his arm from a motorbike accident etc etc, I don't know many People without them. Saying it 'wouldn't be a deal breaker' seems a bit mean/superficial? My scars might be 'a deal breaker' for some because they're very visible and from self harm but like I say, they all tell a story and generally it's a very interesting one 🙂

Solo - is that really you in the pic? What did you do? Anything near eyes is scary. 😐

I went out for a solo road bike ride on a sunny afternoon. Woke up at nearly midnight in hospital. 😯

Polite request - does anyone have pics of an AC shoulder separation please? Thanks!

I don't know as I 'dig' scars exactly, but I'd take an action girlie with a few battle scars over a braindead peroxide oompa-loompa with a Chelsea facelift any day of the week. Even Tuesdays.

Dunno how you can ride off road and not get scars. Got one on each elbow, rough patch on my arm from a big graze I picked, and most of the summer my shins are just scabs.

Perhaps I need to get better at it LOL

Depends. I'm not all that keen on the plastic perfect, so I reckon most make a girl more interesting (though I have to admit to being superficial enough that I'd find some off-putting).

Since I already posted this on a thread earlier today, it would be rude not to repost:

[img] [/img]

From two separate incidents the same day - the first with metal pinned pedals, I took those off and replaced with plastic ones before being stupid enough to repeat the same thing - the plastic pinned pedals don't hurt any less.

Not taken a recent picture, but under that patch is a 5 inch gash where the tib and fib came out. Now have 5 inch scar running through a dent in my leg, with 4 bolt holes and another hole the surgeon needed so he could push something stringy back with his thumb.

[img] [/img]

Several others, but they are minor compared to this one, or just not visible because they are ribs or soft tissue damage.

edit: and the day after the frame came out I went for a ride on my bike, slipped a pedal and scarred all across the scar, just before a consultant appointment.

Have a few from cycling, sailing and skiing, highlights include;

one from left elbow to shoulder where a brake lever unzipped my arm
left knee to ankle after a nasty crash on granite, through body armor
right knee to right ankle calf from chainring.
Hole in right leg from snapped chainstay
Several round right eye from high-speed crash in Pyrenees
Collarbone shattered and a dropped right shoulder
both ring and little fingers
both elbows no longer straighten after crash damage
scars on both shoulders from trees/traffic
inside right elbow where I caught the end of a branch and ended up suspended
pedal rash scars on shins
broken/cracked/floating ribs
scar across right palm from ropeburn
broken metatarsals and meta carpels
chipped teeth etc.

quite lucky really not to have broken anything really major yet.

My boys love looking at my scars. Nothing massive, but the odd good story to go with them. I've got a badly stitched gash on my forearm from being attacked on a riverboat in Brazil. The attack was pretty minor and the cut probably could have been dealt with by a few plasters, but I think the local hospital was a bit embarrassed about tourist gringos being subjected to this, so now I have a scar and a story.

Plenty of smaller scrapes and cuts from climbing, hockey and of course cycling. The latest one healing is from a stupid wash out on a berm in Kirroughtree.

A few years back now on The Raven at Brechfa, my mate's broken tibia and fibula he had to reset it himself after the crash but after a couple of hours wait with the paramedics he eventually got a free ride in a big yellow helicopter and some metal work inserted into the bone courtesy of the NHS, into the bargain. Lot of fuss over nothing really ... no proper scars to show for it the worst of it was they had to cut off his Singletrack sock 😀

I agree. I come from the school of thought that if you don't crash now and again, you're not trying to push you're limits or do things you wouldn't normally do.
Either that or indeed, perhaps knitting is a good option.

Additional scars I have but don't have photos of include being mildly impaled on a large triangular piece of glass which I was bent double over when I ran through some closed patio doors as a kid.
Also lost my right little finger in a motorcycle accident and cut through the tendon on my left index finger from a woodworking machine accident.
All part of the rich tapestry of life Innit 🙂

Scars! Not wounds! Gawd!

I have no problem with scars on a lady. Human beauty is complex, and certainly isn't about looking like some photo-shopped ninny in a vacuous fashion magazine.

Amazing pics Paul. Good luck to your lad.

Mr Kip says he digs scars on chicks. I suspect mainly because I have the same collarbone scar as Prezet, although my plate shows up a treat. If I roll my shoulder forward right you can see the screw heads!!

Anyway, I was once told that scars are like tattoos but with better stories...I like that.

Jesus, there are some nasty images going on here.

Thankfully most of my injuries have been breaks:

- broken arm jumping off the back of a moving London bus (had missed my stop!)
- broken arm falling off a rope swing when the branch snapped
- broken wrist from an accident I suddenly can't remember any more
- busted ankle falling down a bank while stoned playing football in the woods
- busted ankle falling over (on wet moss) while playing tennis
- cracked ribs from bike crash (Ranmore)

I have a nice inverted 'V' on my right calf about 2" across, courtesy of an off from my Raleigh Tomahawk 8) . It's been there 34 years. I don't think it has impressed anyone though, but I like it - it also gave me two weeks off school, as I did it on the penultimate day of the school holidays.
