Looking at insuring a motorhome with 4 different drivers, 3 of which have accidents in the last 5 years. Thought I'd have a go at the gocompare motorhome form but the best it's come up with is 1.9k for the year.

I'd have thought a motorhome doing 5000 miles a year tops would be a few hundred quid? Which specialists are worth going to?

Adrian Flux is always worth a punt for this sort of thing.
Might also be worth looking at the caravan club and or camping and caravanning club.

Adrian Flux
Insurance Choice
Camptons Insurance (I think they only do 30+ drivers though)

Also, the number of drivers is probably pushing the price up. If any of the drivers are going to be very infrequent, they may be better going the 'day insure' route. Especially if they are just going to leave it on site for a week at a time, they only need two days. If they want to move it they can get instant cover online.

I've used it a few times for test drives.

Luke.

Number of drivers

Number of accidents

Low number of miles

Size of vehicle ( likely bigger than most folks cars so statistically more likely to be in a shunt or a - shit this roads not wide enough )

All counting against you.

Better pick 1 or 2 drivers with no accidents and stick a 10k a year policy on it (average milage)

Still, at least you haven't gone and bought it without looking into all of this!!

Scotroutes- fortunately, it isn't my camper, I am just finding the insurance for it!

Managed to find some for £550 and waiting for Flux to get back. The others wouldn't insure us...

I've used comfort insurance for my t5 this last couple of yrs. very helpful and you can talk to real people when you ring up.

10k mileage on a camper policy is huge Trailrat. It's what I have on mine (and what I do) but I always end up with it being checked and double checked when getting quotes as it's so unusually high. 5k is average to high for a camper.

Comfort insurance are often cheap and I'm currently with Staveley Head.

Hooray,
A thread I can contribute to.
Ignore the others and join the Camping and Caravaning Club. Every time I get my renewal for from them I grin inanely like somoene from an advert thinking "How can it possibly be so cheap"

It's two hundred and something (70?) fully comp on a T5 2.5 tdi etc for me and the missus. It's a good £1100 cheaper than any other quote I could get after I got the pop top put on.

yeah,
too excited to read the rest of the thread 🙂

PS, they don't cover business use, only commuting.

+1 for Camping and Caravanning Club, although we've used Comfort in the past and they were reasonably priced too. All those accident-prone drivers definitely won't be helping, though :/

Thanks everyone. The clubs wouldn't insure us but comfort and one of the others can do us for £400.

We're through the C&CC as well and are about £200 I think for our motorhome, insured for my wife and I.
