In order to shunt the above around (though not necessarily in the order listed, in case the missus reads this..) I'm in the market for a new large vehicle. Used to have a 2nd generation Galaxy as a company car and loved it. I've heard that the 1st gen ones are basically re-badged VW Sharans (same chassis, engines, gearboxes, suspension, bodywork etc) with a few bits of Ford finishing kit thrown on.
With a budget of no more than £1700 I can pick up a 2001 model with a 1.9TD engine (ie the classic VW engine) and about 95,000 miles on the clock. Seems like a deal.
Anyone got one of these or have any thoughts re reliability or common issues that I should be aware of with these cars?
Alternatively has anyone got other ideas about what I should be looking at within that budget?
