Evening STW collective.

I have a Sony stereo in the garage with a older 30pin male docking port and I want to connect my I phone 7 to it which obviously has Lightning connector only.

The Apple ones are in the region of £30!!!, but eBay have some cheapy ones at £5, of which some say they will only charge and not support audio, others don't mention any limitation.

Anybody bought a cheaper Female 30 pin to Lightning adapter and got it to work with audio?

If so any links to any?

ta in advance

Dave

I tried a few with no success so had to fork out for the apple one. Think they’re sold cheaply to attract people on the “its cheap so worth a punt and not a big deal if it doesn’t work “

And when it doesn’t work, it’s not worth the hassle to get the refund back

Since this is STW I'll reply with something you didn't ask for.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Andoer%C2%AE-Bluetooth-Receiver-Adapter-Speaker-White/dp/B0118RTB44/

Mate of mine keeps his old Bose sounddock going by using one of these to convert it to Bluetooth. He's had it a while and it works fine, looks like this casing but his has a different brand name.

Does your Sony stereo have an aux in (eg 3.5mm in?). If so you could get a cheap Bluetooth receiver?

BT adaptor is what I'd do (an indeed, did). Cost about 47p from Tesco.
