Having seen the series last year, again they've come up with one of the hardest hitting documentaries on telly!
I go through it every day at work. It's very accurate.
just been swearing at the scrote bag burglar...obviously gets arrested a lot as he mentions his brief mostly gives him his bus fare home!!!!
great documentary though.
That scrote has shot himself in the foot in spectacular fashion. Half the county will recognise him and call the police every time he drops a fag end.
Tron - I thought the woman detective was rather cruel there
Q - "What does he do when you arrest him?"
A - "Cries"
I think he may get reminded of that one... not going to be such a big man with everyone laughing at him ๐
Just have to wait for Elfin to start going on about how they cut out the bits where the prisoners were being beaten up and innocent people traumatised by evil authoritarian fascist cops.
It will be as Zulu-Eleven says, all his mates will remember of this film is that every time he gets arrested he cries!
I loved it very true to reality not like the hyped up soundbites of police camera testosterone. I can truely say I've met in Leeds the dopelganger of every one of the cid shown .
I did want to know how they got scrote boy in for the fresh evidence interview without his brief.
I liked that CID bloke who said burglars were the scum of the earth!
Brilliant. You could have a 500 poster thread talking like that on here!

What, like this?

You do know it's probbly not really a good idea to start me off, don't you? ๐
(Oh, I can give you loads more if you really want. But you'd probbly prefer to ignore the truth)
Police have a very tough job to do. But the training's often inadequate and the selection process is not stringent enough and allows too many bad eggs into the police force. I'm sure there are coppers on here who'd agree with me on that.
I can truely say I've met in Leeds the dopelganger of every one of the cid shown .
Recidivist!
Elf I'm teasing. You almost make it too easy ๐ I agree with you on certain points, like the selection process not being rigorous enough. But I've been in the Police for quite a few years and never seen unjustified use of force with my own eyes. Not saying it doesn't happen, just it's nowhere near as prevalent as you make out. Did you watch the programme?
Great telly. They're very candid, aren't they? Mind you, I can barely imagine the frustration of having to interview that (clearly guilty) little scrote, while he sits there smugly answering 'no comment' to everything, then having to let the little bastard go ๐ฟ
The last one is an eye opening story for anyone with the time to listen..
Ive got oads of time......
Well I can guarantee I know waaaay more coppers than you and I know them a lot better. Very few are a you described elzorillo. Who's fault is it that you were on bail? Yours, the police, or the person making the allegation? Would be preferable for the police to ignore a GBH and not investigate it? Take a step back and have a think about it.

Now now. Innocent until proven guilty, Binners.
I have bin that '(clearly guilty) little scrote'. And have sat there smugly answering 'no comment' to everything, then being released without charge and then sauntering out of the police station laughing as I went. ๐
Then lighting up the spliff the dozy buggers failed to find on me, once I'd got down the road...
I've been in the Police for quite a few years and never seen unjustified use of force with my own eyes.
I have. Several times. And know people who've successfully sued the police for all manner of offences. A friend of a friend is a lawyer who specialises in cases of wrongful arrest/police brutality, and is extremely successful. Many coppers have (rightly) lost their jobs cos of him. It's people like that who force the police to have to act correctly as much as possible.
Another friend is currently taking action against the Met, in a case so shocking it may well help change how certain policing is conducted in the UK.
Most of 'em are ok. Some of 'em are really good. Far too many of 'em are rotten scum.
I know a bizzie in Bristol wot lives in a massive sprawling pad in the posh hamlet of Nailsea. If ever I miss my monthly drop off, the next thing I knows, I'm getting stopped in me vayn every other day, strange phone calls, the works really. He posts here sometimes. ๐
I've taken a couple of good shoeings from the Rozztafarians.. and I know of dozens of folk that have been treated similarly..
95% of those people (me included) will admit that we brought it on ourselves and if truth be told we were still treated very fairly.. and the 5% that won't admit it are lying..
In my experience robust policing is used when robust policing is appropriate..

Should I continue?)
Yeah!! best story on STW for yonks! I wanna know what happens (although, I predict trouble for "Jim")
Having worked alongside the police in Edinburgh I never saw inappropriate force used - indeed i saw many opportunities to do so not taken.
What I did see was significant force used on many occasions to subdue fighting mad drunks.
Am I the only one thinking that, 'roids or not, the guy wearing "just a tight muscle top" was somewhat vulnerable...?
I wonder how accurate a picture it is, we're shown Coppers in action for 50ish minutes (albeit I only watched 20 minutes) and I didn't see a single copper drone endlessly on about their pensions.
This is a grossly inaccurate portrayal judged by my recent encounters with the the old bill.

Yeah, it was all the dog's fault
Am I the only one thinking that, 'roids or not, the guy wearing "just a tight muscle top" was somewhat vulnerable...?
Yep.
More story please. ๐
Now listen ellzorillo....you think the police treated you shabbily?
If you don't finish the story, I'm going to get Elfin to burgle your house; darcy to tarmac your drive, TJ to teach your children morals and Yeti to bum you.
Make it good.
And there was a cop watching all this?
(do go on)
I told you it was the dog's fault.
TJs going to tear you down, you racist scumbag! ๐
Savage behaviour by the police, what exactly did they think had happened to Jim to crack his skull?
elzorillo - it sounds like you have been really unlucky there and I genuinely feel for you. Can I just explain a couple of things, because most of the things you are complaining about are as a result of the Law, the Criminal Justice system and Government policy.
From your description of what happened I can surmise a couple of things. Firstly that the other guy made a complaint to the Police of assault, and neither you or Jim did until after/during interview or at least not until after the other guy had (correct me if I'm wrong).
Now to clarify a couple of things. If a guy comes the police with a broken jaw and says you beat him up and were racist, they CANNOT treat you as a witness. You HAVE to be interviewed under caution at the very least and will probably be arrested for a number of reasons e.g for the prompt and effective investigation of an allegation of crime. They may have wanted to take forensic samples such as hand swabs or have any possible offensive/defensive injuries documented by a forensic medical examiner for example. This is in order to prove or disprove your involvement in the incident and to establish what happened.
You had the benefit of actually being there, the police weren't. they can only go on the information they have at the time they are investigating the matter. So if they are told a load of rubbish at the start, they have to go through the motions of establishing exactly what happened.
As regards charging the other guy. This is not usually a decision for the police. They gather the available evidence and put it to a CPS lawyer for a charging decision. If there is no realistic chance of a prosecution succeeding then the CPS will not authorise a charge. This would include a fight where there were no independent witnesses as to what happened.
As for the racist element. Any racially motivated violent crime is seen by the government and the police as particularly abhorrent and attracts stricter sentences. The police are under a duty to investigate it as thoroughly as possible and this is set down in law by the goverment. If the complainant believes the crime was motivated by racism then it is recorded and dealt with as such. Even if this may not always be the case.
Finally - you're police officer mate at the Boxing club sounds like an absolute tool.
Well put nonsense, i was just going to ask if elzorillo had mentioned this incident to the local bobbies and point out we usually treat the initial informant as the aggrieved unless it is obviously otherwise, which in this case it would be difficult to say unless there was an independent witness. I think sometimes where we let ourselves down is in a lack of a full explanation as to why we are pursuing certain actions.
Having said that, it is quite incredible the number of times i have had a family member or friend tell me a third hand story they have heard at work/in the pub about the awful actions of the local constabulary, when i have actually witnessed the incident and their stories are more than a little embellished, if not outright lies.
Ho hum
