[#657393]

I changed my diet a bit from Monday and since then ive felt tired and keep getting headaches??

i workd it out that i was having around 8 coffees a day each with 2 spoonfuls of sugar in , aswell as the 3 spoons i had on my brekkie which works out at 20 ish spoonfuls of sugar a day and shit loads of caffeine.

now ive cut the sugar out and have only2 coffees a day max, would this be why im getting headaches ??

Also do you think by doing this i will lose any weight?

cheers

steve

I expect your body's protesting at withdrawal of drugs! Stick with it, it can only be a good thing.

What's the rest of your diet like? It's the fat that really makes you pile on pounds. Avoid cheese!

I had the same when I gave up booze. 1st couple of weeks I felt like shit. Was getting hardly any sleep and felt lethargic. After that inital 2 weeks I started feeling much better. I would sleep like a log and had a lot more energy (lost around a 18lbs in those 1st 2 weeks). Now back on the booze though and everything is back to "normal"?!

Make sure you are drinking enough fluids (ie Water)
It'll only take a few days for the caffeine shakes to go

8 coffees A DAY and 20 spoons of sugar..!

I'm left wondering how you are still alive!?? I think I would've ended up in A&E with atrial fibrulations or something on that sort of 'diet'.

...seriously though, the headaches are the least of your worries - and TBH probably to be expected after such a massive caffine + sugar comedown. Stick at it though! You WILL feel much better for it, but it will probably take around 3 weeks or so for your body to readjust.

The headaches could be caused by low blood sugar?* I've had this sort of symptom before - and your body is probably used to overcompensating like crazy for all that glucose and still hasn't corrected its typical response. Try eating good quantities of complex low GI carbs - oats, brown rice and certain fruits - to keep you on an even keel throughout the day..

But, hey WTF do I know? I'm a plant ecologist and I'm starting to sound like a dietician! ...such is the armchair tuppensworth madness of asking the STW collective for advice on anything other than whether barends should be fitted to risers, or baggies should ever be used for the darkside.

... but what I've said does seem to make sense (to me) at least.

Basically, you are detoxing from the caffeine, the same thing happened to me.

Whenever the inlaws visit they suffer as we drink decaff and they go on a 3 day cold turkey from the caffeine (10 cups a day doesn't help)

Jeses man that is some amount of caffiene and sugar...I'd suggest you try halving your intake to begin with - going to almost a complete stop is probably making your body crave for the stuff more...you need to wean yourself off gradually...

All the time you feed your body sugar then it doesn't start using it's own, hence, you gain weight.

I'd like to know some of the dangers / problems with caffeine.

Cheers
