Surprised no one has commented yet - but what a great final episode.

I feared they'd spoil it somehow, but the emotion of the winner at the end couldn't be faked.

Great TV and I'm sure other celebs will be falling over themselves to be in the next series. Just goes to show you don't have to make fools of people (looking at you Jungle) to make engaging TV.

Brilliant final episode including the mission on the train. Did not go the way we expected and it made for great TV. Alan fluffing his 'I am a faithful' in the previous episode was gold so genuinely thought after that it was going to be an obvious conclusion

It was a much better series then I thought it would be, maybe because they had to play as everyone else had previously and not because of their status. I thought Alan would have messed up very quickly but somehow he managed to hide it well. His emotions of winning and having to be so dishonest throughout genuinely got to him. Nick messed up, he stopped trusting his instincts and got swayed.

Yep, great final.  I was on hols for the previous two episodes but caught them on catch up when I got home.

It did seem that the winner was genuinely relived/distraught with how they’d had to deceive.

It would be quite an interesting experiment to put them all back in and play it again, obviously choosing a different set of traitors, or maybe not. I wonder if there would be a hugely different approach, and people realising that they really cannot trust anyone.

Train challenge was good, the highlight was the box lid falling, and again, and again….

Great watch.
Joe M was totally the star of the show - funny and smart, gutted he didn't get to the last 4 seeing as he had it cracked.
It's a shame Nick and David where simply useless and just didn't have a clue ..... even when Alan explained why Joe had said "sorry" to Cat Nick didn't get it 🤦‍♂️

Best of any series probably but likely the most expensive too.

Yeah, another here that really enjoyed it – even more so because it had the whole family sat watching something together (doesn't happen often with two 16 year old girls). I think it is one format that perhaps works better *because* they are celebrities – we all think we know these people, so we had preconceptions about how they'd behave.

Gutted for Joe – ineptitude from others meant he didn't win!

And, contrary to what I originally said way back at the beginning of this thread, I quite liked Alan Carr by the end.

If any of you have warmed to Alan Carr because of this - his autobiographical sitcom Changing Ends is well worth a watch...

We loved the series. The 3 traitors were all brilliant in their own ways. Gutted for Joe and Nick, but glad that Alan won, because he’s been brilliant.

I reckon Joe M will get a lot more telly work on the back of this…even if employed only for his death stare!

I wasn't so keen on Cat (there wasn't much personality shining through) but, given her ADHD, it must have been mentally and physically tough for her being in that sort of environment for so long.

The other thing to remember is that the editing is brilliant. That’s what made it seem like such a shocker when Nick nominated Joe. I suspect that in reality he had been considering whether he was being played for much longer.

Watched this a while back and it certainly made me warm to him.

Thought Traitors was excellent telly. Far, far, far preferred it to the non-celeb versions which is odd as usually the celeb version of any reality TV is garbage. Thought the cast was superbly picked as well - all wholly likeable people on the face of it.

Really enjoyed this series. They did get a few "big hitters" on there.

Joe knew who the traitors were ages ago.

Agreed

I think he may have chucked more names about, but the editing makes it look like he was on the money.

Absolutely this - I've still got no desire to watch the regular version but another version with proper celebs like this, I'd definitely be up for it.

We were all rooting for Alan, he was a deserving winner. Amongst the bumbling he made some very astute moves, for example saying Joe looked shady (and more like a traitor) for changing his vote from David to Cat. In the business world I call these types smiling assassins. My only concern is he appears to have a taste for it now, and will kill again.

I wonder if they could produce a format that works and that keeps the traitors secret from the viewers?

The US version has "celebrities" too but they tend to be people from other reality shows rather than A/B list celebs. And the US winners keep the cash, no charity involved there. Neither of those things make it particularly entertaining.

Also in the non celeb versions some people have kept some quite big things hidden about their real life which the UK celebs couldn't do so much.

And Nick's F bomb at the end must rank as one of the best swears of the year.

We watched 1 series of the US one. I thought it was terrible and it seems to be scripted.

Would it be as much fun though? A big part of it for me has been watching the relish that the traitors have brought to their task.

Met Joe, yesterday morning and he'd make a good poker player! Gave nothing away.

He seems like a decent guy, had some issues but hopefully in a better place now.
Only watch the final because I'd met him, can't stand TV like this..

I think if the viewer was to be involved you'd need to see so much more than a couple of hours of it a week.

I dipped in and out, found it ok but quite tedious in places. I've never watched the normo's version, but I find Claudia Winklepicker pretty annoying. Ok, vote count..... I'M NOT ****ING STUPID!!!!

The train bit was funny when the lid kept falling on JM's head but the fact it was going really slowly, the contrived explosion and runing for safety was a bit much.

I imagine that the norm's version is a bit less lovey, but I can't see myself watching it. It'd piss me off and blood pressure would suffer....

I have to say, I thought Alan Cumming was absolutely brilliant in that. Completely different approach to Claudia, but he’s the perfect foil for that role.

I agree Alan Cumming was very good But the Z list reality "stars" were absolutely awful.

I  really don’t think it would be all that interesting notwithstanding that a lot of the fun is seeing the Traitors at work. For a start as a viewer you would be totally in the hands of the editing, they could probably produce footish which would ‘incriminate’ anyone they chose. But beyond that, it would just be immensely confusing. The evidence you would need to pass judgement just isn’t there. In reality the show isn’t about what it purports to be. It is isn’t actually about spotting traitors (at least not until the very final stages) it’s about how trust is formed, the way in which narratives are accepted by the majority & the way in which people network. It’s a game of survival and not being selected as a target. The point of the game is that it is almost impossible to spot a traitor (unless they make a particularly egregious error) otherwise how could Alan Carr win? As a viewer you would essentially just be guessing, even more than the participants do, so I don’t think it would be much fun at all.

just watched the last two episodes of series 3 and i can only repeat how brutal it is.  £100k up for grabs, you do nothing wrong, get to the final, youre not a traitor, but just cos someone else isnt 100% sure of you thats it, away you go with nothing.  and yes, when theyre told later they cant believe it and theyre sorry they voted you out, but they still wont give you a share will they, thats the game 😀

compelling viewing, we feel drained after each episode.

I was late to the party with this, and was a bit of a sceptic beforehand if I'm honest.  We binged it over the last few days, finishing last night.  Fortunately without finding out who won. I've never seen the other series and don't generally like or watch "reality TV".  To my great surprise I really enjoyed it.  It was great watching it with Mrs Bloke, as there are very few TV shows we both like and can enjoy together.

It was a great mix of people. Joe Marler, Ruth Codd and Alan Carr were the standouts for me.  I pretty much warmed to all of them though, even Jonathan Ross (to a degree) who I used to think was a right tosser.  I think in that setting they can't really keep their showbiz persona up all of the time, so you get to see more of their real personalities.  Great TV

We were out Thursday and Friday so only caught up last night.

Very entertaining, it was also worth watching the Uncloaked episode where the other players see the outcome live.

As a few have said above ,I did try to watch the Alan Cumming celeb one as I like his style, but agree it was utter garbage.

I think they really got lucky with the UK celebs that they picked ( and some slick editing),will be hard to repeat.

I think that's a big risk. Though I can think of a few people I'd like to see do it

Yep.  Bob Mortimer for starters. Then maybe Brian Blessed, Cathy Burke, Gary Lineker, Romesh Ranganathan.  God there's loads!  Actually a castle full of duplicitous, lying, immoral politicians fighting like rats in a sack would be highly entertaining!  Mandelson, BoJo, Truss, Farage etc.

Somewhat bizarrely, they had a “royal” in the US version, Ivan Mountbatten. Maybe the next UK version could get Andrew Mountbatten?  Bob Mortimer was mentioned I believe for this time around and I’d love to see how he approached it, whether he is just silly all the time….one of the previous UK series had a mother and son, that the other contestants weren’t aware of. That was quite a string dynamic when there was chats going on within the groups about who to banish.  Not sure if that would be feasible for a schleb.

Perhaps someone like Michael Portillo could bring the intelligence and refinement such as Stephen Fry did this time.

Tony Bellew likes a reality show, I think he would be good telly.

I actually quite enjoyed the US version, but US shows work differently where they never seem to let the public on them, its always a mix of z listers who have been on the US version of big brother, survivor, are you the one, bachelor, the mole, the challenge, etc

As someone who has watched the last 14 series of the challenge, I was quite entertained by the US version, they were typically American and Alan Cummings did great IMO.

UK Celeb version, after Cat went, Alan played the only card he could and knocked it for 6, I do wonder if Joe has looped Nick in more would it have eased Nicks doubts, or is saying you are doing this to set up others more damning as considered traitor behaviour! But, what a final!

Bob Mortimer would be amazing, but for the fact he's always so good on "Would I Lie to You?" – I don't think anyone would ever know if he's telling the truth or lying in the slightest bit, no matter how absurd a claim he made – he'd just do his cheeky smile and get away with it.

Perhaps if they had both him *AND* Paul Whitehouse on...
