I was going to say it sounds like a case of 'sour onions' but I better hadn't.

good quote from a friend of mine last night.

'they only get caught for doping when they do it wrong'

he could well be at it but i don't think having bulls blood in your veins makes you a racist 😉

the french have a point though, us brits have no right at all to take part in THEIR sport

Why do they never give the white jersey to French riders?

Because at the award ceremony they instinctively tie it to a big stick and wave it aloft ;-)

I mentioned something very similar on another thread. Is it me or has anyone noticed how cocksure professional athletes have become regarding doping over the last 12-18 months? I reckon they're just getting better at it!

What a non-existent article.

"Un-named sources fail to cite specific instances in support of damning general allegation"

We know that Mr Cavendish is rather full of himself, thanks. If you reckon he is an actual racist, rather than just an arsey young short-tailed Manxman who wins a stage on Bastille day, we need some vague evidence of this. 🙂

Speaking anonymously to L'Equipe for fear of tactical reprisals by Cavendish and his Columbia team, the riders said they have just about had enough.

"Cavendish is racist, he's anti-French," said one rider. "He should be careful. We're not going to put up with his attitude much longer."

So thats being not man enough to stand up and be identified, and teeing the situation up so they can knock the guy down "accidentally" without being villifyed. Stinks like a C - E - S - Monkies Wifes armpit after an Onion peeling marathon In my humble opinion.... who does their tactical wind ups Alex Ferguson ???

Methinks we're getting to them!

I like the comment from the French woman:

<<Plus the mansks think the isle of man is the center of the world and the remain of the Atlantis, so don't expect any humility from those people who cut their cats' tails to pretend they are special>>

I know you are quoting someone else but that is really offensive.

well said TJ.

Brits would have done exactly the same as the French during the war(s) had there not been at least 20 miles of water between us and German tanks.

A guy in my club was often Cav's lead-out man in his amateur days and Cav was pretty unpopular then, even with his team. He is however the best road sprinter in the world so has a right to ride like a patron

Un-twist those knickers TJ

Anyways at least Cav realises that he can come across as "an a$$hole" whereas the unidentified whingers need to grow some balls.

Allez Cav!

That was because they were pointing their guns the wrong way though.

Anyway, technically french people are for the most part, the same race as Cav so it's impossible for him to be racist to them. Jingoistic is a better term.

Soooo. The collective response to the idea that some unidentified French chaps think Cavendish is a racist is ridiculing of the French. Which is nice. 🙄 🙂

That doesn't prove they were brave - it just proves more of them died!

Given that CESM seems to have originated in the US after the French refused to get sucked into Iraq, it did strike me that there was a distinct lack of self-awareness on the part of the Americans about France's contribution to their own liberation from English oppression. Surprising, given there's a huge reminder of it sitting in the water at New York...

G, our coast is a lot easier to defend than france's borders and without the good ol' USA coming to help, zere vould be a much higher percentage ov blonde people on zis forum...

You would have probably collaborated too if your family were threatened with horrible deaths. Easy to point a finger when the hardest thing the average brit had to deal with was rationing! (not criticising the efforts of the british war affort btw)

Anyway, another Cav victory this eve?

The whole CESM thing just springs from Americal disappointment that the Frence won't repay the 'debt' from two world wars, by getting involved in Uncle Sam's latest 'interventions'.

Easier to defend yes, but it still had to be defended. And defended it was against superior forces.
I think you might be misguided about how far the average man was prepared to go to defend his country.
Anyway back to Cav, hey ho we can't all be as gracious as Hinault was.

I hope not, half a million brits were killed during the war. Your average brit would have known/been related to, many people who were sent off to war and never came back, not to mention the many millions who came back maimed and mentally scarred for life. Plus, as uplink has pointed out, a concerted bombing campaign the effects of which were experienced throughout the country. We may have not been occupied but we certainly had a lot more to put up with than rationing.

Yes, the war wouldn't have been won it if wasn't for the americans but don't forget they didn't even enter the war until they were forced to by the Japanese. We'd been begging them for ages to provide some support, Canada and Australia had both been doing what they could since the start but the good old us of a had been dragging her feet for quite some time.

If we're talking numbers - Russia: 20 million.
(I remember reading somewhere that Russia could probably have defeated Hitler without American involvement in the War.)

I am aware of the blitz etc and was trolling deliberately generalistic comments along the lines of "cheese eating surrender monkeys". Perhaps Cav's alleged comments have a root in these ill-informed views that are so often bandied about...

Un Ricard SVP 😀

"Cav was pretty unpopular then, even with his team."
Well his team seemed all smiles yesterday and he walk back through the peleton thanking each of them for there hard work, as he has done after each stage win.

He is young, he is fast, and he is dam cocky. But don't you need to be to beleave you can sprint the final 2km after a 165km day in the saddle.

I'd bet money thats just some journo making up a story.
