volvo 360 (great car as an introduction to a rear wheel drive)
mx5

also spent over a month (which is longer than I've owned some cars) in a brand new v8 (420bhp) camaro last year. That was nippy..

Nice monty - no way could I stretch to that and the offer I found was simply impossible to resist - just one of the last stock vehicles around now the new one is out.

Right....the best car I've ever owned is the one I currently drive....BUT.....it's also the most boring and in some ways most embarrassing to be seen in....

A white Mondeo 2.0 Ghia, 2005. Bought in a hurry on ebay after my last Saab blew up & cost me just over £3k when it was three years old!!!! My kids call it Dad's taxi and I must admit I have been flagged down when driving past pubs at chucking out time...

I have put new tyres on it, serviced it and that's it - it is the most reliable car I have ever owned and as a result it will be living with us for a long time to come - every time I think of selling it I end up catching myself and just saying no....!

😀

@MF, push them for the three year unlimited warranty, I got mine and needed it when the CPU went belly up in year three.

Its a cracking car though.

Peugeot 205 GTi....awesome car, wish i still had it.

Had some of the other popular 80s/90s hot hatches too; Mk2 Golf GTI, Ford XR2....but none of them were as good to drive as a Pug GTi....owned both the 1.6 and 1.9 models at various times.

4XSaab 900 T16 S's - not all at the same time!
They were what got me through the 90s - rorty, so well designed, built and engineered - practical too (I once slept stretched out with rear seats down in one of mine - and I am/was 6'1")

So sad about Saab's demise into mediocrity and unreliability under the dreaded GM...........and now probably heading for extinct status.

I've still got one though!

Replaced with a Westfield, which was great fun (and very glad I have had chance to own) but it had to go once kids arrived.

What was the Westfield like to own? Any luggage space at all?
Thinking about a new "toy" car in the not too distant future.

It has a small boot, enough to fit a few bags of shopping in.

The one I had was originally a Ford Crossflow engine, but the previous owner had upgraded it to a Toyota 4A-GE engine, which produced about 160bhp, more than enough power given the weight of the car. Insurance was cheap. I never bothered to check fuel economy, I don't think it was very good 😆 I owned it for a few years, and then sold it for pretty much what I paid for it, as those sorts of toys go it was a bargain.

The build quaility on Westfields can be a bit variable as most are home built. I don't think the one I had was especially good, but it held up to lots of hard track days without any problems - except being a bit of a nightmare on noise regs. If you are interested in them, then check out the owners club (WSCC) and get along to one of their regional meetings, normally lots of cars to look at and owners to speak to.

My father-in-law has one that he is (was - might have changed his mind but can ask him) trying to sell. Been raced for the last few years and maintained meticulously - professionally tuned and balanced etc. It has a Puma 1.7VVTI engine in it producing something like 170bhp. I think he wants something like £10k for it though - would you be interested? (Based in Harrogate, N Yorks).
