Thinking of a major change of career direction (or even just a direction). Has anyone used a career coach? I'm not entirely sold on the idea so some plus or minus points would help, or even some recommendations. Thanks.
try my missus.she's good and one of few who is professionally accredited..email me.
Will do - but can't see your email in your profile.
Try discussing your situation with an adviser or careers coach on 0800 100900 or www.careersadvice.direct.gov.uk
A lot of private ones are Snake Oil Salesman who'll attempt to fleece you out of cash for future, possible consultancy/support.
IME, albeit limited, they can only tell you what you already know. Temping can be invaluable as you can try stuff on a short term basis with no contractual commitment.
I'm not sure I'd want coached by someone who that that being a Career Coach was a suitable career.

I'm afraid that is true.
Find something you want to do and then find a job doing it.
Easier said than done. I've not managed it yet.
Like any industry there's good, bad and those who are just havin' a go as it sounds like a quick way to make money.
Choose wisely - happy to talk more (I work as a Coach in the corporate sector primarily so no commercial interest)

hey corroded, will email you directly....
I am a careers advisor or purvayor of IAG as we like ot say these days, done NLP and coaching as well - company made me former can be useful later BS IMHO.
Above web site is good place to start.
A coach helps you reach the answers by asking the correct question a Careers adviser is more active in the help/process , someone with IAG empowers you to make choices by providing you with info to make choices...can you smell the BS in them all?
Not exactly genius to work out what you want to do
Would I pay for it ?
probably not as it is not rocket science.
