Just checking into car & bike insurance. it would be good to have breakdown cover as well but not too important.maybe it would be better to take that out with RAC or AA seperately. have any of you got cover from one insurer and has it saved you any money/hassle over having two?
thanks
Martin
Every time I've ever tried it, it's been easier and cheaper to get them seperate. Specialist bike insurers seem to be a lot cheaper. But then we've got 2 Ducati Monsters and a Focus estate, and we're gettting change from £400 to insure all three fully comp right now, so I doubt I'll get any discount at all anyway!
Try Admiral Insurance. They do a good deal on insuring two vehicles in the one household.
never tried it due to hassle factor, and not sure how theyd work out 54bhp 3 cylinder skoda + 150bhp Yamaha R1. Might give them a bit of a headache 🙂
Some bike insurers, in a bid to get your car cover offered to apply bike NCB to your new car policy, but that was still on two separate policies suggesting trying to put the two together was an actuarial nightmare.
FWIW we dont have breakdown as part of insurance (though it is cheaper than getting it standalone) we just use some of our clubcard points to buy joint RAC cover.
Munque-chicks idea about using the tescos points for the rac cover is a good idea.
I use More Than for our cover and have had it for 8 years and have only used it twice and they've been ace, the second time has been this past weekend when the cambelt on our Kia Sedona snapped whilst with my wife in France, they organised pick up, and have actually covered us with a replacement vehicle until ours is fixed! We're looking at over two weeks hire for a SEAT Ibiza by the time the garage reckons it will have it repaired!
