Car (Pug, 2000 306 HDI), currently not starting (not firing on turnover), however did fire when AA squirted fuel into air intake.
Issue appears to be that immobiliser is disabling fule via ECU (garage are saying that it is reporting an ECU fault via diagnostics).
Having google etc one option appears to be the ECU Doctor in PLymouth who do a rebuild.
I am **beginning** to understand that there appears to be a 'linkage' between key, ignition and ecu. Can somebody explain that - is it 1:1 or if I get the 'right' ECU is it a straight swap ?
Cheers
Have tried disconnecting the battery* to allow the system to "reset".
Old man had an ECU fault that cleared doing that.

Try asking the same question on the Frenchcarforum.
On my old 1.9 Dturbo the keypad immobiliser is wired directly to the Stop solenoid, but this may well have been updated.
Good luck fixing it though.
