[#1966863]

Over the last week or so I can only read the header of emails on my iPhone. In the preview screen I can view the first few lines but once I select the message and try to view it, only the From, To and CC are visible. Can't quite be sure whether this coincided with the upgrade to IOS4 (mine's the 3Gs). Anyone got any ideas?

Can't say I've had any trouble with the same model.

Or you using IMAP I wonder if it's a sync problem as mine is having trouble deleting them at times.

I can't really help but from what I've been told upgrading a 3G/3GS to OS4 is not a good idea ๐Ÿ™

Force quit the mail app (hold your finger on the mail icon till the delete symbol appears) in the multi-tasking dock (access it by double clicking the home button) then relaunch. Still happening?

3G perhaps/maybe. 3GS nothing wrong at all with running ios4.

Not a problem I've seen dd. iOS4 on a 3GS here and no issue with mail (nor on my wife's 3G also running iOS4).

You could always try removing the mail account and adding it again?

+1 (my) 3GS is absolutely fine running iOS4. Considerably improved in fact over iOS3.

Absolutely sucks on the (wife's) 3G though. Runs like treacle.

I get the odd bit of hanging with my 3GS on iOS4 but nothing bad enough that I'd want to lose the multitasking functionality.

Think there's a new release today too.

To the OP - I get that temporarily sometimes - usually when the network is a bit slow - it's a syncing issue I reckon.

Who would have thought turning it off and on again would work eh? ๐Ÿ˜‰

3G phones run a lot slower and a mate has a number of 3GS phones at his work and after upgrading to OS4 they all drop every call after exactly 5 mins!

That said, my old 3G is up for an upgrade in a couple of months by which time I hear they will have a new version of the phone out (new antennae) which I will be getting ๐Ÿ™‚

Not heard of that call drop problem, like I say mine runs just fine and dandy.

iOS 4.1 is rumoured to be released tomorrow and fixes a number of bugs, including improving performance on 3G phones.

Plus it gives the camera an HDR ability, which is nice.

I find that if you force-quit a few apps it usually cures this. I suspect the multi-tasking still needs a bit of tweaking by Apple.

Yeah, that's what I usually do - some apps like Skype seem particularly bad at this (for obvious reasons).

I've been running 4.1 for a week or so now. much improved even on the Iphone 4 so I would imagine it improves the 3G no end...

If your 3G/3GS is running slowly on IOS4, go to Settings/General/Spotlight Search and deselect all the options.

That should speed it up a little.

Did that. Made **** all difference to wife's 3G.
And I tried the Reset Settings. And the double hard reboot.

Still takes ages just to open apps etc and frequently freezes up completely while typing.
