Ms Engineer and me are thinking of going somewhere warm for Christmas. Anyone got any recommendations for a quiet-ish resort in the Canaries (or anywhere else?) Don't want to spend a fortune. I would, but I haven't got one.

There's so many

We like Lanzarote, we have a place out there in Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise is good too

It's high season for the Canaries so there won't be too many bargains but you should get flights for £300 ea and a nice apartment for £500
Gran Canaria is usually more expensive, I think the 'pink Euro' keeps the prices up

Do you want to be in a resort?

We've been to Tenerife twice and stayed in a lovely village. Cheaper (200 euro for the cottage a week) and nicer imo

Spent New Year's on Tenerife a few years back, despite being Los Cristianos it wasn't as tackly/loud as I'd feared, I think it helped we went to a family-friendly hotel rather than a 2-star-in-the-middle-of-it place.

Spent xmas in Fuertaventura 8 years ago to avoid the 1st christmas with our son with the relatives - best Christmas Ever!
Had Paella from a little hut on the beach for christmas lunch. Brilliant.

*ponders doing it again this year
