I have done quite a bit of travelling around the USA (I do all the driving) by just stopping at motels / hotel / lodges where ever takes my fancy.
I'm thinking about doing the same in Canada but is it as accessable to find a motel / hotel / lodges as the USA?
Do I need to know anything particular?
Any comments would be very welcome for place to go, anything to do, see etc.

There are LOTS of big wide empty spaces (a bit like parts of the USA) so keep an eye on maps when deciding whether to stop for the night or carry on.
