@IHN Sorry to hear that, he looks like a proper good boy. My mutt would have liked him by the looks of it too, he was a handsome chap.

I constantly think of the time coming with my idiot, but also cannot even comprehend the mess I will be when it does come to pass.

A week last Sunday we took Woodie for a nine mile walk around Shutlingsloe and Macc Forest and he loved it, bombing around as usual.

Then he was a bit under the weather the week after. A few back and forths to the vet, an ultrasound and a CT scan later showed he had a brain tumour that had spread to his lungs, any options were palliative, and he had weeks at best.

Last Saturday Woodie was put to sleep.

Oh mate, so sorry. Only met him the once, but he seemed like a lovely dog. Shout if you fancy a cathartic roll around on bikes some time, my knee is just about normal again and it would be good to catch up.

@ihn

sorry for your loss, I’m sure Woodie and Bert are sniffing bums in doggo heaven right now!

I know it wont help now but Im 9 months on from loosing Bert in pretty much similar circumstances and one thing I take solace in now is that he was full of beans until a week before and his illness was mercifully short.

Didn’t see my doggos* last week due to being away on holiday.

Lola demanded a tummy tickle, Buddy found some fox poo and threw himself on it and Tucker was all excited to see me again. I borrowed him for the rest of the day and had a nice afternoon. He’ll be coming home with us soon.

@IHN sorry to hear that. Outliving your pets is a bugger for sure. Worth it for the time you have together, but doesn't feel like that when you have to do the right thing however grim it is 🙁

Nearly a year has passed since we were close to losing Lola. She's all healed now but increasingly derpy 😉 And her partner in grime is still waiting to receive a second braincell. We're not hopeful 🙂

Here's Gus, black & tan Jack Russell. My 2nd JRT, I love the breed. So easy to live with, great with the kids and full of character.

Bruce has got friends now. We booked a secure field for a greyhound birthday party. He wore a hat (and genuinely didn't care!)

We would normally do a walk, but the Billy (who turned 8) has recently had surgery so I took a big bed and made him a sunshade out of a bike work stand, a pole and a bed sheet.

We had a whole field and any hound that wanted to explore could. They chose to all sit together and get fuss from the human staff.

Another one that has just lost his doggy here. Toffee had a heart murmur and arthritis but had been plodding along for the last few months on a cocktail of meds. Last Wednesday she was struggling when she woke up but she brightened up during the day.Thursday was worse – she got up, said hello, then immediately laid back down and started to poo herself. I took her straight to the vet when it opened and they said she had a fluid build-up around the heart which was stopping it from pumping blood properly. They said we could have the fluid drained and it might give her respite, but it could be months, weeks or just hours before it built back up again. So, following their advice, we decided to put her to sleep. We took our girls out of school (almost 17 yrs old), and the four of us (and our other little dog) were with her as she fell asleep for the last time.

@johndoh Your tale and picture there have just made me cry. She looks like she was a lovely girl; it's never easy but be glad you made the right decision. I hope you don't dwell on it for long.

Excellent, some brighter news. What made you change your mind? You had some fair reasons not to a few weeks back.

Sorry about the losses. But look at what they got to do while you had them. Lovely set of ears on toffee.

Lola is celebrating her gotcha day today. She's just farted at me it was pretty offensive in volume. Extreme body confidence...

Probably should've read back a few pages. My bad.

@IHN & @johndoh, there are no words that ever seem good enough. It ****ing sucks losing dogs. Big love to you and yours.

Sadly dogs are only here for a good time, not a long time.

When we got lola she was seven and she had as far as we are aware never been left off lead and was quite capable of being a **** to other dogs.

Lots of learning from us and 4 years later she gets to unleash playful pup whenever she plays nice.
