I would post a pic of my little 12 week old parsons terrier but despite trying most of the day can't! Guess its because Im not a 'member'

Anyway i'm currently going through the minefiled of pet insurers - has anyone any recomendations?  Not necessarily looking for cheap more looking for a reliable insurer?

We're with Sainsburys, they pay promptly, had no issues with the few claims we've made. Even with Stacey being a rescue.

Anyway the Kiwi has grown up and is a loveable menace. The Labrador loves her even if she makes his life a misery from time to time.

She chews beds! So at work he has to lie on the floor of the kennel and then she just uses him as a bed so she doesn’t have to lie on the floor.

This was meant to be a cute nap pic. But she heard a rustle from the kitchen.

Heck of a transformation that. Really good to see 🙂

We have a couple of old chairs the dogs sleep on especially if wet. Had to move them today to make space for the christmas tree. If Lola had fingers, I think she'd be rage calling the RSPCA 🙂

Not only moved her chair, but moved it to a position that she's no longer able to monitor the target rich environment outside. No chance to bark at next doors dog, attempt to arrest the heart of any delivery driver by barking madly just as they approach the front door and/or be oppressed by shrubbery. It's a dogs life for sure.

Roxie the retriever on the other hand is extremely calm. But that's because she only has one brain cell and it'll take her two to three days to find her chair now we've moved it about 1 metre 😉

After polishing off Sunday dinner leftovers, Fran masters the sideways sofa brace to encourage tummy tickles from dad.

Basically a Jellyfish in a retriever suit 🙂 I don't think she know she's a "she" or even a dog. The one available braincell travels around the body randomly activating a body part. Sometimes she gets her front legs off the sofa and then seems to forget what she's doing and just stays half off half on the furniture.

We love Roxie of course, but no one could ever accuse her of being even slightly intelligent 🙂

This is Bill, Bill is not my greyhound but he is my favourite greyhound at the sanctuary. He has been waiting for a home for over a year.

Bill went for a home visit after being reserved last month. He was very excited by this and proceeded to wee on the Christmas tree and then jump onto the dining table. He was a little too high energy for the home he visited, so he is once again looking for a home. We were all sad that Bill did not get a home, but Bill was happy because he had a fun day out and got a new toy.

IMG_0463.jpeg

If he's still looking for a home in a few weeks (once we have finished some work around the house) we're going to offer Bill a home.

I think you can forgive a dog for relieving themselves up a tree tbh.

Nilo has found a new favourite spot. I've tried explaining that white dogs and oily chains aren't a good mix but he's not having it.

I've just asked ChatGPT to turn a picture of our dogs into a Toy Story style cartoon as a stocking filler pressie for my daughter (hers is the fluffy white dog) and it might be one of the cutest things I've seen!!...

I kind of envy you - Sprocket is ferociously bright and basically self training, but the downside is his ability to outwit his dullard owners in a cynical, Machiavellian way. Being a dog he has a limited grasp of ethics and morality. That said, at ten months old now, he is a fantastic pup. People will tell you - and did tell us - that getting a working line German wirehaired pointer was a really bad idea. That said, if you're prepared to put a lot of effort into giving them the physical and, particularly, mental exercise and engagement they need, it's still a really bad idea, but in the way that driving a works rally car on the road is a really bad idea. Love him to bits 🙂

Wossat then? Can I eat it?

Some dogs seem to embrace the festive spirit when they are dressed/decorated, others have an expression regretting their life choices to earn a treat.

Mr Sprockety-Sprock-Sprock-Sprockadoodledoo Sprocket embodying the spirit of Christmas present... in that he is actually present. Does he know it's Christmas? No idea, but whatever is is, I'm sure he'd like to send season's greetings to other STW doggos and their enablers 🙂

Have a good one!

I know some of you are spending your first Christmas without your good doggo, and how hard that is.

I hope you're doing okay and making the best of today. Take care of yourselves.

@stevenmenmuir - excellent "emergency tripod" from the Lab there.

@badlywireddog - as long as he gets to eat the packaging without being told off, I expect all his Christmas's will have come at once. Excellent looking doggo you have there.

Yeah, we have the offspring back home but it wouldn't feel like all the family was here if we were missing a mutt.

Cheers Alex. He is an expert when it comes to the destruction of all manner of packaging from simple wrapping paper right through to sturdy cardboard boxes, so he is having a truly excellent day 🙂 I am utterly and irredeemably biased, but he is an absolutely fantastic pup. Ten months old now and while relatively calm by GWP standards, still a complete nut-job at times, don't be taken in by the angelic looks, he is a precision-engineered agent of chaos given half a chance...

We've just tried to adopt a Spanish Mastin (had one before, best dogs in the world) from a rescue place in Sussex - apparently the Lakes is too far for her to travel so she's heading back to Spain in a van to live in a pound again...

I frequently wonder wtf is wrong with the people running rescue places?!
