Finally got round to booking Roxie into the groomers. They asked what needed doing. I said "everything". They wrote "Full De-Floof" in the book which made me smile 🙂

We still miss Stanley immensely, that feeling is not going anywhere, but there is some light now at least. Every 2-3 weeks we meet up with some or many greyhounds and a few of our friends for walks (or cafe trips). I take photos at our local greyhound trust walks too, so get plenty of hound time from that.

This weekend was a big weekend of walks so I took a few photos as I always to. This time I also strapped an action camera to my treat bag. The results will, hopefully, make any dog lover smile 🙂

Who doesn't love a feisty mini schnauzer?
Here are Roksi and Bodhi from earlier in the summer.

It took longer than anticipated for Nala to go to her new owner, but she leaves on Monday.

It must be quite a wrench. Kudos to you, I'm not sure I could do that.

Lola just back from Hydro. Booked another 10. She's going well but another round should get her 100%

That second pic just cracks me up every time I look at it. She's six now, got a bit of jowl-y 🙂

Roxie went to the groomer. Not impressed. Rolled in Fox Poo this morning and had to be hosed off. Then shampoo'd and hosed off again. She still looked very pleased with herself tho!

Pippa has spent the week in Northumberland. I’m pretty sure it’s her favourite place. Beach, pub, sausages, fires and tummy rubs. What’s not to love?

Thanks. Last time there was only a two week gap between dogs, which apparently is very unusual. I think we'll need a family conference before committing again.

We went there last year. All the running, digging and swimming. Bus trips, days out in the car, and of course the pub, including shared bags of crisps. I think you're right about it being a favorite place.

Couple of weeks ago, Doug got to go on a playdate with my sister-in-law's Retrievers Bruno and Bonnie. Good times.

That looks pretty traumatic for the poor dog and tje family. Hope recovery is full and swift.

@tuboflard

That's an awful thing to happen, hope your little guy/girl makes a speedy recovery

Woken up at 5.20 this morning to the sound of a pup being sick. Less dramatic than a cat but still not a great way to start the day.

@Ransos - we had over a year gap between our guide dog pups but we're raising our 3rd now, in the interim year we boarded for guide dogs which we really enjoyed. Their leaving doesn't get any easier ;(

Thanks all. He’s taking it remarkably well all things considered. He’s been in the crate for four weeks pretty much constantly and had the cone of shame on too for most of that. But he’s still happy with is life though that might be something to do with the roast topside of beef I keep treating him with.

My entire photostream now seems to be composed of pictures like these - aka, Sprocket in classic GWP sleeping position. His ability to sleep on his back - there are variations on leg and head positioning, but essentially this is how it goes - is impressive. I'm still a little astounded that he's started finding his own off-switch and settling on his bed. I think he may be hunkering down for winter, not that he's ever experienced winter. Or even very much rain. He has a surprise or two in store 🙂

Ha, I love the fact the whiter of those two spaniels is staring at you with a "Yeah, I'm soaking and dirty, what you going to do about it?" expression in every photo.

@Scapegoat - that's some quality stinky mess, bet your pooch was as happy as a pig in mud !

Herbert's worst one was when he went into stagnant water and came out a lurid green colour. The smell was unreal and he was less than impressed with the bath that followed .....

Well, since you mention puppies up there...

Spotted today at Gloucs Services on the M5, this little chap is the spitting image of our 18-months departed Barkley. It got quite dusty in the carpark, but in the end I felt obliged to leave him with his owners.

This time of year Lola is mostly camouflaged 🙂 Finishes her 10 Hydro's this week. We'll find out how much muscle she's put on, but as posted before definitely going for a second round. She doesn't like the treadmill much, but she LOVES the pool 🙂

Lola (other Lola) would like it to be known that lying oddly is not a patented Pointer pose. This pure mongrel has been rocking it for 11 years now.

Sprocket says: 'Seven out of ten: angle of rear legs and full rotation onto back could use some work, but getting there!'

Are you sure there's not a dash of pointer in there? 🤣

Roxie really hasn't cracked the upside down sleep yet. However this pose is generally announced as "Ahoy, the good ship Roxie has capsized" 🙂 IMG_9082.jpeg

Pointers seem to come with the capability straight out of the box - I can remember Oscar, Simon's GSP at Freeride Spain doing exactly the same thing - I'd like to believe that there's some sort of bred-in, hunting-based reason for it, but I suspect the reality is just that they are weird dogs...

Derpderpderp had a fun deep dive into the archive

Her weirdest thing is backing up to railing and shitting through them. Lead to some interesting door chaps. "Do you mind if i pop into your garden and pick up the turd my dog joint shat through your railings"
