A few years ago we used: http://www.carlyonbay.net/ and it was fine. Is quite large & we got an area away from the families with kids.

Have stayed at Doubletrees before

Few years ago, but easy walk down to St Blaise, and there's a footpath very near the site that leads you to the Eden Project (who gave us reduced entry as we said we had walked to get there) ๐Ÿ™‚

Have stayed here: http://www.pentewansands.com/ which is right on it's own section of beach. Less than 5 miles from St Austell.

That was for a scuba diving festival (which was a disaster - horrible weather all weekend!) so I can't really comment on what it's like when full of normal people!
