Looking at taking the kids camping somewhere in mainland europe during the school holidays. Where is not extortionate? Places i've been looking at are trying to charge upwards of £350/week.

Just looking for basic sites, dont need anything fancy.

France is great but you have to look for municipals, we'll be going in August and it'll be about 20/25euros a night or so. Big pitches, electric, decent showers and mostly the other campers are French.

tent camping or hiring a tent chalet thingy?

I've always liked it here
http://www.camping-florac.com/

€150 for 2x adults and tent for a week, add €30 per child for the week

We've used these camping cheques before for cheap pitches.

Brittany, west of Roscoff- loads of great sites. We spent 2 weeks in our motorhome last year, peak season. Even the one with great waterslides/2 pools/ tennis courts etc was only 35 euro a night. Basic ones half that.

I've found this, somewhat unfortunately, is quite important 🙂
