live not to far from Manchester and looking for a few days camping but having to take an 11 year old, and with out him being happy it could make for a miserable weekend, so can any one recommend something 1.5 - 2 hours from greater Manchester

I haven't been but Snowdonia Parc looks interesting. Countryside, next to narrow gauge steam railway, CAMRA pub on site!! A couple of hours from Manchester.

Paddling/Boating in the Wharfe. Trout fishing at Kilnsey, show caves just up the road.

In good weather, our fav campsite is http://www.rynys-camping.co.uk/
It doesn't look much from the website but the rocky outcrops, stream and landscape make for a great place for the kids to roam free.

They always make little-while friends.

Just reachable in 2 hours - close to Betws-Y-Coed for river walks, outdoor activities and shops/restaurants.

Penmachno MTB second loop (the flat contouring loop) is good for 11yo too - park where the 2 loops join.

This is the view (not my photo):

Yurt price is very reasonable compared to most other Glamping spots.
Anway - I've said enough now as I don't want it get so busy that I can't get in!
Carol is lovely - we've been going there for 25 years now!
