Fly to California tomorrow!
Got a big list of places to visit with some MTB in there for good measure. Whilst staying in the Santa Cruz area I've got the following places on my list of places to ride:
Demo Forest
Wilder Ranch
DeLaveago Park
What I can't work out is how organised these places are, are they like a UK trail centre with bike hire etc or just waymarked trails in a forest? We're going to need to hire bikes so if anyone is familuar with the area and these locations some last minute advice would be appreciated.
Not organised. Hire bike in Santa Cruz then ride to either or drive! Wilder is closest along the coast. Demo is uphill. Do Wilder first, nice and flat but fun, then Demo. If you can get up the Peninsula to Skeggs or Saratoga Gap you'll get great views of the Bay.
My info is years out of date, you could try up at UCSC the campus is huge and defo had trails.
Dont forget to spend at least half a day downtown in SC and just absorb the weird pretentiousness
that Californians seem to have board walk and pier also good and get up to the Lane to see world class surfers.
