Silly design, thin metal rungs on the nipper's cabin bed. They hurt her feet and she can't MTFU as she's not a M.
I've tried pipe lagging, which worked but fell apart very quickly. Carpet could be an option but seems a bit of a faff. Was thinking bar tape but is there any that is padded enough?
Any other ideas?
chainstay protectors ?
Damp proof course for brickwork, roll of 5mm rubber - quite hard wearing, I used it to stop the washing machine moving about on spin.....
Fat tennis racquet overgrips.
Can you stll get BMX [s]frame[/s] bollock protectors....?
Cut to size, and they fasten with press studs with a tough vinyl cover?
Or how about pipe lagging, but with a material wrap?
Crepe bandages?
Wrap old inner tubes around the rungs?
Araldite foot-shaped bits of carpet to her feet.
or MTFU! (you don't have to be a man to MTFU, it's not gender specific!).
or tell her to climb up them fast and slide down.
Bar tape?
If you go down the bar tape route, have a look at tennis grip tape - probably cheaper and places like Sports Direct should do it dirt cheap.
Yep, very cheap. Worth a try at £1.50 for pack of 3.

Uhmm, I expected a total piss take but some good ideas there! Can't believe I hadn't thought of using some old inner tubes!! The damp proof course stuff could also be perfect!
Cheers
And thanks to muffin-man for not letting me down...
EDIT and the tennis tape - thanks, that could work!
Remember that you can 'build it up'. My wife normally has two tennis grips on her rackets to get the perfect feel. The grips come in different thickness as well
As above, bar tape surely!
Also available in a variety of colours and patterns so get thee to wiggle or similar and let her choose her favourite?
Carpet pieces and Duct Tape.
It works.
Probably obvious but just bear in mind that any of the above that can slip or move on the bar could cause a fairly unpleasant accident.
Seatbelt protectors - then they can be themed too.

Pipe insulation stuff?
Pipe insulation stuff?
In OP
I've tried pipe lagging, which worked but fell apart very quickly.
Toughen up Princess......
The black foam insulation used for 10mm pipes on AC systems might be better than the grey stuff plumbers use for 15mm pipes.
I suspect, once padded, child will come up with other reasons for not getting into bed.
Pipe insulation but this time wrap duct tape around them - probably outlast the bed.
Pipe insulation & bar tape.
How about old grips? rather than bar tape? Put a wanted in the classifieds, you'd be inundated!
Cut some strips off of an old camping mat...................no. not the inflatable ones...............and double sided carpet tape.
Trebuchet?
I'm liking the trebuchet idea!! Getting her down again might prove difficult, through the hole in the ceiling!!
Trampoline? Knotted rope?
My eldest had a climbing wall 😉
The stairlift reminds me of a pub on Sheringham seafront - not sure whether it was to lift old gits in or drunks out! Average age seemed to be about 108 there!
Try the pipelagging again, but wrap it in Duct Tape. I have some on my roofrack uprights that is 20 years old, and is just starting to look like it might need replacing in the next 5 years or so. If your wee girl is still in the same bed, strapped to the roof of your car in all weathers, in 25 years time, you'll be needing to buy another roll of tape...
+1 for slippers
