Toying  with the idea of buying a brand new Transit Custom for my ltd company ..

I have a price from a main dealer, however looking online at a couple of companies , I can get the same vehicle for around £5k less . From what I understand, if I go this route, then that company will be the first registered owner. and in effect the van will be "second hand" to me ( even though it's not even been built yet).

i still get the full warranty, breakdown cover etc

Both the companies I have conversed with have said I wouldn't get the V5 in my name until around 6 months after purchasing. I will check with my current insurer if they have any issues with me insuring a vehicle registered to someone else tomorrow.

Just asking if anyone has gone this route to a new vehicle. Are there any drawbacks ?

What happens if the supplying company goes bust in the meantime?

You pay a holding deposit of £500 , then the balance the day before delivery , so I would pay deposit by credit card so covered there. If I've listened to Martin Lewis correctly , then even though I've only paid the deposit by CC , I'm covered by the card issuer for the whole amount ? That should presumably cover me if the company goes bust ?
