I live in a mates house, he works away most of the time. He doesn't rent it to me I just take care of it and keep it running.
He is back most weekends if he can.
Buildings insurance has just ran out and as he's away again I need to sort it out for him.
Can I insure the buildings insurance under my name or does it have to be under his name. Does he have to have me as a tennant or not as we don't pay to live here in cash, just doing the place up.

I am sure you need to sort it out in his name. Just get his card details off him or pay on yours for him.
You don't pay so you are not really a tenant. Just a mate staying for a few days 🙂
Unless you want contents cover as well with your stuff covered in which case you may have to be regarded as a tenant and pay him a nominal fee or something.
