[Closed] BT headphones. Sony VS Bose

Bought a pair of Sony's today. Tried Bose and Sennheisser in Currys and instantly preferred the Sony. I've never had noise cancelling headphones before and wow!
Also, I never realised a pair of headphones could be so customisable through the app. Very pleased with them

I ended up having to put my Sony headphones on at work and could still hear the useless admin woman setting the world to rights. But then I also had some good music to make it a tiny bit better.

Found a thread on Reddit which suggested these settings

If you change the EQ settings and effects it defaults back to SBC codec. Are you sure that it's actually using LDAC even if you select it? It tells you in the headphones app, top corner.

I can recommend signing up to a free trial of Deezer to try the 360 sound. Listened to a bit of Santana, Bill Withers and Nilssen - it's like being stoned 😂

Radio Paradise sounds pretty decent on FLAC too. I like these cans - first time I've been lost in music for a good while

@molgrips

Yup there are no eq settings in hi qual / ldac mode. Tbh I've used ldac pretty much non stop now for a good few days. Seems to get better. There is the occasional pop / click but it seems this is something to do with anc as it doesn't happen when this is off.

Rumours of the xm4 in September. Suitably impressed with the 3s tbh

Use Bose at work and they have, recently, annoyed me with a BT disconnect bug. They still outperform my old HD25 Sennheisers though, which is not surprising given the generational change.

received the M3's today and they sound really nice. The NC is fine for working in the office at home. Wife came in and made me jump.

I've had the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC headphones for about a year now.

Noise cancelling is fairly good. I use them a lot in the workshop, so generally noisy - saws, routers, etc. Certainly cut out as much noise as my 3m ear defenders.

My only complaint is that when in the train and I lean my head and squash the rear phone I get a high pitched guitar feedback thing going on. Doesn't happen often, but unpleasant when it does.

Toyed with the idea of buying the Momentum 3, but they're probably a bit too nice for me given how little I look after my current ones. The slightly lower battery life wouldn't bother me. As long as they do 12 hours then it's fine by me.

Wife came in and made me jump.

Happened to me too! (Was my wife, not yours btw)

Have been tempted to bring them to work as I can't frickin stand noisy eaters in the office.

Those bose are one of the comfiest headphones I’ve ever owned, especially considering the are noise cancelling. The new boss whilst having a better sound quality aren’t as comfortable.

I have tried both but bought Sony.
The Sony sounds much better. Bose sound balanced and clear, but lacks detail and sounds artificial. On the other hand, Sony's bass is on the heavy side, but I think it's not muffling up anything. The sound is really natural, energetic and punchy and satisfied my taste.

Taken a free trial of qobuz and tidal. Both sound better than my regular spotify. Think I prefer the sound of qobuz though.

Inrmteresting. Not heard of qobuz. I did have a quick play with tidal found the Android app a bit slow. Not sure I could hear a significant improvement over Spotify primo. Not twice the price better anyway.

My free 3 months with Spotify is up though and I've heaps of playlist saved. Wins for me on the amount of tunes tbh

(qobuz not available in Oz yet)

Just found a thread on reddit which has a firmware updater so that you can flash old FW for the Sony's (may feel v2. X. X. Was the best one and newrer versions anc isn't as good) there are some custom firmwares out there too.

Turning down the clear bass a couple of notches makes the bass a bit more balanced when noise cancellign is on, I have found.
