Having a final get together of my team before were all made redundant, so have ppl coming from over Mansfield, and up from Oxford to nr Brum as it kinda central to us all.
Were paying for it ourselves (and aren't highly paid), so looking for a restaurant/hotel (with good restaurant) near the motorway network (not asking ppl to drive into the centre of Brum, then back home) for a good meal that won't cost the earth.
Any thoughts?
has no-one eaten out, around Brum?
Ok, you could try:
Va Bene in Hagley - very nice little Italian place and not too far from M5J4
The Lyttleyon in Clent/Hagley - quite posh/pretentious but good food and a nice ace
a bit further afield but The Saxon Mill or The Orange Tree near warwick are also nice.
the lyttleton and Saxon mill are the same group of pubs along with the barnt green inn, very expensive beer, food not up to much and they don't have accomodation afaik the hagley and barnt green ones being full of people trying to look pretty and well of then going to their clapped out fiesta in te car park (you will find the odd aston/ferrari/porsche driven by roll neck sweater wearing types as well though)
Lol. The boot in lapworth is good. Afraid all the other places I go are local or in the city.
I agree with RocketDog. Lots of yammos pretending to be posh.
The boot at Lapworth is quite good. How about a curry seeing as it is near Brum?
cheers for the suggestions, as per Maxray, all the ones I use are far to local (out of the way) to expect everyone to find (and seemingly selfish if I don't have to travel). Accomodation isn't required, as it will be on a 'school' night and we'll still be expected back to work the next day.
As much as I love a curry, I prefer a good drink and a curry, which is not what this night is about...
Agree about the Lyttleton but if you ignore the "look at me"'s it can be OK and the food is not bad either.
I am told the Wildmoor Oak is good (very close to M5, J4 again) but i have never been there, same applies to The Retreat on Stourbridge.
Bit further from the Motorway but Wildes in Leamington Spa is really good as well, a proper little Bistro.
As per other posters, most of the other places I go to are in the centre of Brum or Leamington so not really fitting the bill.
