[#2395841]

so, here in morzine there are a plethora of transfer companes to ferry you to and from geneva airport, for about 35 euros.

i cannot for the life of me find anything similar from bourg st maurice (or landry fwiw)

!??!?!

150-200 euros is what i can find (cool bus et al), or 8 (!) hours on the train...

all i am trying to do is visit friends over there, but it seems far too expensive to be able to do that (i have a lift from morzine to bourg available).

any ideas? anyone driving from bourg to geneva next thurs?!

not straight to morzine - 4 and a bit minimum to clusas, then got to get to morzine from there. 8 hours to geneva from bourg.

just don't undertand why morzine has such good transfer services when bourg (and by extension les arcs/la plagne, tignes etc) don't.

very frustrating.

Ah your topic title is confusing, reads your wanting to transfer from bourg not Morzine.

i want to trasfer from bourg to geneva!

i live in morzine, and want to visit friends near bourg. there is no transfer direct from bourg to morzine, so i was planning on getting to morzine via geneva (with 2 airport transfers). geneva to morzine would cost me 25 euros - the other leg of the trip is looking like 150-200 euros or 8 hours on a train.

its a nightmare, and i don't understand why one big ski area has such poor transfer services when another has such good ones!

Remember that Bourg is twice the distance from Geneva than Morzine and that most of the buses other than the regular lines only operate on transfer day and are there to [s]fleece the punters[/s] serve the tourist industry.

Find somone with a car in the resort and wow them with the idea of a road trip.

Alternatively, rather than looking for trains on the Deuschebahn website, try http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ cos you're in France! Depart Cluses, destination Bourg Saint Maurice.
You should be able to find a TER (stopping service) that will allow you to change at Annecy and Chambery without too much hassle and for less than €50. It will be a long journey if you are waiting around on platforms, mind you.

looked into it a couple of years ago as we'd ski'd Les Arc and La Plagne 5 years in a row - usually doing cheesy jet to Geneva. In the end it worked out easier and cheeper to hire a rubbish car and drive. It's got a lot to do with Bourg not being in Switzerland and so not being linked to their rail network. You could always fly to Lyon instead - I'm pretty sure there's a direct train from Lyon to Bourg.

altibus were a ridicuous price!

can get a train from bourg to clusas for 32 euros (1st class - i will be working!), which takes 5h 16min...

then bus from clusas to morzine.

it'll be a mission (a few clothes, work stuff, skis/poles/boots etc), but its cheap, and it'll be good to see friends.

i guess morzine is just spoilt with its transfer services.

Just as a side note for anyone staying in Les Arcs...

There is a FREE bus service from the BSM funicular to BSM railway station so don't torture yourself by dragging your boardbags/suitcases etc up and down a million and one stairs and across that massive bridge!

When I went skiing last year I used this company for a cheap airport transfer from Geneva: .
