I tried quite hard to do a doors-off helicopter whale watching trip with these guys:

Unfortunately it didn't pan out on the day - was rather disappointed!

Are you starting off right in the centre?

Having a wonder round the Freedom Trail is probably the most obvious thing to do - lets you take in a lot of the sights if you want a look into the history.

Hop on a bus or the underground and do a Harvard tour

Whale watching on one of the Aquariums (sizeable) boats

Prudential Centre and Copley Plaza if wanting to kick around the malls

Been a few times over the years, if I had never been before I'd probably have a walk round the freedom trail ( http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/pdfs/NPS%20BOST%20Map%20Jan%202013.pdf) stopping off in a few bars on the way.

Whatever you do, play Fallout 4 before you get there and try and spot the sights from the game.

Go up the monument at bunker hill, it's at the end of the freedom trail. That'll get the legs going

V short trip from central to airport as well.

Nice walk across the river to Harvard (with a few bike shops en route).

Do this. I'm not too fond of being out in the open water but it was a blast - literally!
