The story about Angela Raynor in the Mail on Sunday hints at a certain desperation at that rag and on the Tory benches. Absolutely pathetic, misogynist crap.

I suspect their anxiety to distance themselves from the story has more to do with it characterising Boris as being someone so sexually incontinent, that he can’t hold a train of thought when he sees a woman, rather than any distress caused to Angela Raynor

That way he can either beat the “Non U” at his own game thus demonstrating his superiority, or if he loses, well, he hasn’t the right equipment, has he?

I reckon that's absolutely part of it but it still doesn't explain why, at any important meeting like G12, he looks like a complete sack of shit compared to everyone else. Trump is the only other person I've seen with that similar look of zero style and looking like a pudding shoved into a condom.

But that is Boris’s style. The whole thing is made up bullshit. He’s been doing it since university age. I’ll fitting suit, sticky out hair, blundering nonsense. Thankfully or not the other uniform of a cricket jumper and a teddy bear was taken in his circle of chums.

Isn’t this essentially what the whole “call me Dave” thing was about? Just a mate you’d meet in the pub.

Their supporters distrust anyone who dresses well as they must, by definition, be elitist. This a major problem that Starmer has. The populist MO is that anyone competent must be an elitist member of some kind of cult.

And this is a failing of the electorate too - in falling for this crap they speak volumes about themselves.

What’s the point of that picture? If anything, it looks like he’s trying to improve his fitness by doing some exercise, and for that (alone) he gets a modicum of respect from me -don’t shame him for that.

Shame him for being a mendacious self-interested kleptocrat.

TBH he's been 'trying' to improve his fitness since the time he nearly died of covid.

I'm not sure he's really taken the exercise concept to heart.

I know twitter links are frowned upon in some quarters, but #TheWeekInTory is worth a read/follow.

Some doubt has been cast over that nearly died story much in the same way that his claim of shaking hands with cv victims was a figtree of his imagination. The hospital said they had no cv patients at that time. His obesity reflects his neediness, greed, self-indulgence, alcoholism, I you can't look after youself.....

I've seen similar - a lot of doubt around the timings, the fact that some of his "illness" would have been a very convenient excuse to escape scrutiny, dodge a few PMQs, generate some sympathy...

the full Sue Gray report will be so “damning” for Boris Johnson that he’ll have little choice but to quit as PM

i'm not sure Boris is the resigning type.

HIGNFY making much the same point this morning...

One thing we can all be absolutely sure of is that whatever happens, the end of Boris Johnson won't be coming with him resigning. He's only ever resigned once and that was as foreign secretary and done entirely for his own advancement. On every other occasion he's been sacked, usually for lying

The thing about Partygate is that so many other Tories will be hit by it too. That being the case, who won't be involved and therefore in a position to become the replacement Leader?

Hunt. Came second last time and is completely unattached to Johnson regime. Presumably he'd be a strong contender.

Not a chance! He's actually reasonably sane, by their standards

The Tory party that he was a member of doesn't exist any more. It became UKIP in 2016 when Boris's Brexit Cult madness took hold

The present Brexity intake of Tory MP's and the rich, elderly home-counties racists who constitute their membership would not entertain someone like Hunt for a millisecond

gardentiger

It’s all part of the “I’m just a regular guy who doesn’t have all the gear like all us other normal blokes for whom salad is effeminate” bullshit.

Yep. The red-faced gammony bloke who sits opposite me at work loves this sort of stuff - telling everyone how he goes for a run in his 25 year old RAF issue trainers when running comes up in the office, but then complains about how much his knees hurt on his 1.5 mile amble round the block.

That was only 2019 and although they purged some moderates they aren't all swivel-eyed loons. Obviously he wouldn't be the erg nutter choice.

There’s nobody standing against him as there’s 2 years to an election and they’re all compromised in one way or another, Boris has had luck in bucket loads the last few years.

Boris Johnson absolutely walked the last leadership election against Hunt. He got 66% of the vote.

And the party has gone full on Brexit/Hang em and flog em/send em back/culture war since then

The next party leader will be none of the frontrunners, but it will be a right wing Brexit nutjob. Baker is probably a fair shout

The rule is that they get significantly worse each time so you're probably right. We'll be looking back on the Johnson years as a time of blissful naivety.

3rd time lucky for govey govey govey? Or did going dancing in Aberdeen ruin his chances for good?

Someone in central Comms has realised how appalling badly that played and how it’s been taken to pieces in the press and some hasty damage limitation tweets have been ordered.

That can’t be true. Johnson and Dorris just arrived at the exact same wording for their tweets because they feel the same about this underhand deniable anonymous briefing that came as such a horrible surprise to them both…

I don't believe the story about Angela Rayner. If Boris wanted to look at a **** he only needs to turn round. The benches are full of them.

There's no doubt the Tories are trying to mobilise the nastier, more bigoted end of their support to vote - all this shizz about how big the fall might be is designed to scare the complacent old gammons into getting down the polling station, even if they have to shake off their carers.

Fingers crossed they'll get a shoe-ing and Johnson gets his marching orders. When a dyed in the wool Brexit nutter also fails due to the irreconcilable nature of their chosen flagship policy, even the duller brexies amongst Joe Public might have to face a few facts. Any payrises screwed by, for example, Brexity lorry drivers, are largely being wiped out by inflation. Knowing that other 'elitists' in other sectors are having it worse will only keep them warm for so long.

Well, football violence comes with the territory with the new demographic the tories keep chasing.

The very worst sort. The ones who pretend to like kickyball when the national squad are amazingly doing ok...

...but might struggle to explain the offside rule, and why two weeks earlier they were accusing the very same players of being terrorist sympathisers and marxists for taking the knee in support of BLM

Like I said, its amazing anyone is still buying this shit, its all so transparently insincere

I note that they've committed to implement the recommendations of the 'Football Task Force' but not put any timescale on that. So somewhere between 2065 and never then?

Someone cynical might point out that Ed Woodward (Man Yoo CEO and the glazers representative on earth) was in a meeting with Johnson at number ten two days before they announced the breakaway European Superleague, so maybe the Tories might be siding slightly more with the dodgy, offshore, parasitic owners of the clubs rather than the fans. just a thought.

If you commit to doing something but then haven't delivered on it, you can just repeat the same commitment in the next election cycle. You can probably also blame the opposition for delaying it, blocking it, etc thus scoring another win.

"We would have done xxxx but the opposition didn't allow us to so what you need to do is vote for us even more in order to kill off the opposition and we'll then deliver xxxx."

Or ending the Elf'n'Safety nightmare with nurseries?

BBC News - Boris Johnson wants to relax safety rules to cut childcare cost
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-61227622

Will reducing the number of staff reduce the cost to parents, or leave some minimum wage nursery staff unemployed?

Selling off state assets (after increasing the demand for their services and understaffing them) and lowering standards as the answer to increasing costs (resulting from policies they said would lower costs)... whoever would have predicted any of that?!?

Shhhhhh. That's the plan for the NHS you've just let out of the bag there.

And the numpties who voted Leave actually thought it would be getting £350m a week!

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I guess it's the way Boris tells 'em that does it.

Caught an interview with the actor in the recent canoe fraud drama, and he was asked who he'd like to play in the current government.

He said Boris, just to explore how you end up so narcissistic that you can stand at the despatch box and believe that if you keep telling people the party wasn't a party they will eventually believe you.
