lets be honest it's the "money making" industry, the world is literally alive at the minute with new bands and amazing music and who was the biggest selling band? I think it was someone like Bon Jovi, or something.
They never went away, they were still goin under the name heaven and hell with dio until his sad demise! In fact the devil you know from a cpl years ago is insanely good.....just check out the track bible black!

Used to see a Sabbath cover band on the South coast called Slack Sabbath and their singer was called Ozzy Eastbourne. Well,it tickled me.

Good to see the whiners and whingers are up and awake. Who the hell cares if it's about making money, being in a band isn't a charity; sure people need to have a love of what they're doing, but if they can't earn a living, then there's no point. Personally, all the variations of Sabbath without Ozzy were pointless, really more about trading on the name, and, frankly a cynical money-making exercise. Like the travesty going under the name of Thin Lizzy. I'm sure they're a good band, but with only one original member they might as well be a tribute band. No Lynott, no Lizzy; no Ozzy, no Sabbath.
And yes, I saw both in their prime, Sabbath on the Sabbath 4 tour, and Lizzy four or five times, Black Rose, Johnny The Fox, Reading twice, and Grand Slam as well. I'd seriously consider getting tickets for a Sabbath tour, I reckon they'll put on a great show.

Saw the Heaven and Hell tour last year a few months befoe Dio passed away - still sounded great.
They were supported by Lamb of God - jeez, I felt ancient when I had to leave the hall when they were on!

I love sabbath, and the effect they had on music was massive. Still get goosebumps listening to 'wheels of confusion' with headphones on, epic riffs and some of the finest guitar tone ever recorded.
TBH though, the last decent album was probably technical ecstasy in '76 or so.
Nothing they can do now will please fans of the early stuff - it will either be a rehash or they'll try something new and it'll be shit.
As I grew up I began to appreciate the Dio era a bit more. even on the dodgier later albums there's some good stuff.
Dio was a top entertainer and was great till the end, never saw a bad show. Ozzy however has failed to deliver. Can't wait though, sod the miserable cynics.

It's all going to depend on which Ozzy turns up... Last time I saw Sabbath (2005?) it was absolutely cringeworthy, he really looked like he'd just been slapped awake and shoved on stage by his demented wife, with absolutely no idea what was happening. But then again, he was bloody good the time before just playing in his own band.

I'm too young to have seen Sabbath in their early years but did get to see them during the last reunion tour, and Heaven and Hell about three years ago. Cash-in? Who cares? The chance to see one of the greatest and most influential bands of our time? Yes please. The four of them are still capable of blowing any other band away, Geezer and Tony especially.
My only concern is whether Bill is healthy enough to do it.
I never really got into Sabbath, mostly because of Ozzy, I know, I know... It's Ok, I'm allowed to say it.
But my bestest mate (whoop Bod, sorely missed) loved em' Utterly obsessed so whenever we hung out, Sab's tunes filled the air.. This stood out for me...
Thing is, and of course I may have a poor memory, I don't remember Ozzy doing such crazy things apart from, of course, his item of clothing which he discarded and I caught. 8)
He didn't have a great voice (Ian Gillan of Deep Purple did) and, yes, Tony Iommi was pretty cool on the guitar. I will treasure my memories of seeing them live, as well as the vinyl albums I've kept.

A few years ago I saw someone that had been around for a very long time. In fact it was his 80th birthday tour. He was amazing and could still play a guitar.

I think Ozzy whines and snivels and moans and exalts and is just creepy sounding, which is perfect. I liked RJD but didn't think his more "operatic" vocal style really suited Sab. I think RJD was great in Rainbow.
He didn't have a great voice
It isn't about the quality, it is the style. And he sings off-key to great effect - a quite unique voice and perfectly suited yo the Sabbath style.

I can believe it about BB King. The thing is, blues isn't like rock. The latter is supposed to be, by definition, 'cool' and 'rebellious', etc., etc.
I have no problem with still liking something I liked from the 1970s and 80s; I just think it's really weird when those very same people are trying to generate in me the same sort of immature, emotional responses I had then.
U2, the Stones are supreme examples of the guilty. Let them all go the way of REM, I say. And let me just add that I am a fan of them all.
Just not in their present forms.

Good news but I thought Bill Ward's health issues were severe enough to prevent massive touring? Maybe he's ok now so they can perform again.
