Hi guys, I'm trying to see if what I've experienced is common and what anyone else has done about it.

Last weekend when I was finishing a ride (only an easy 20 minutes) I had a burning sensation at the end of my Michael Johnson, as if the end of it was being squeezed by two boiling teaspoons. I've had similar feelings a few times before while cycling, but only really a little discomfort, not pain as such, and that was back when I was doing hours on a bike rather than two 15 minute commutes a day like I do now. I assume it was triggered by pressure from the saddle, but I've only ever used soft touring-type saddles so I doubt it's like the sperm-count-reducing problems that some pros might experience (if that's even true).

Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Yes, it's apparently a known problem. I've spoken to someone who stop cycling, despite being very keen on cycling, due to what he described as "penile numbness". Although it's not a problem I've ever experienced. Despite my porn-star proportions, I hasten to add.

I get a completely numb one on long climbs - it's definitely saddle position related, as I've alieviated it, but never managed to stop it altogether.

I suffered once from "chafage of the bell-end", not much fun, but easily avoided by using saddle cream and "dressing correctly"

About 5 yrs ago i managed to convince myself i had testicular cancer. I had a continuing 'heavy' sensation in my testes, some numbness that wasn't going away plus some other symptoms.
Checked up online (yeah, i know) and i found i had more than a couple of the classic symptoms of this cancer. I started to quietly poo myself, couldn't talk to the then G/F as her father died of cancer and any mention of the word brought on a crying fit. Needless to say this didn't really help and i did that bloke thing of suffering in silence and hoping it would go away - which of course it didn't.

In the end i went to see my doc who gave me a full examination. He told me i didn't have any growths and it was highly unlikely i had the disease. He then asked what sports i did, told him i cycle a fair bit.
That's when the penny dropped, apparently you have a sheath between your balls and your bum that all the main nerves run through and this had become inflamed and then developed 'scar tissue' (for want of a better description).
I asked what the remedy was and he told me - "change your saddle!" ๐Ÿ˜†

So, whilst the remedy was laughably simple, the damage could have been permanent had i not got it sorted - plus the worry really made me c@rp myself for a month or so.

See your doc, change your saddle/saddle angle and maybe buy some new shorts?

I had a test last week and all results came back negative, so I'm thinking it's something physical. And I'm not sure about your reference to my wife - we live in Glasgow and the shipping industry has long since gone.

Specialized saddle with the groove.

it's more practical than a PA to hold yer bell end up.
