Seat Alhambra. Loads of space (that's a DH bike in the back) and certainly got enough ooomph for me.

How occasionally?

Once every month or two - involves 5:30 starts and getting home around 7 (or whenever the M6 feels like letting me home) so getting a hire car would be too much hassle having to sort it out the day before. Would rather compromise on how the bike goes in rather than that!

I had a gen1 focus wagon. It would swallow up 3 evoc bike bags loaded verticaly. My pals gen1 v50 was laughable at best. 2 bags on their side was the best it could do as the roofline is lower/boot floor higher.
Looks and drives better though ๐Ÿ˜‰
My current outback, whilst bigger still doesn't have as much practical space as that early focus and I reckon the only estate with more practical load carrying would be a Saab 9-5 (as far as what's available in our market)
However, mini vans simply destroy everything with their absolute practicality... Fortunately there are some good looking ones available (subjective)

Honda Civic? I can get my large mtb in the middle with the rear seats folded up - Means I still have the boot for bags.
