I have a mobile solution that stores data in a Google Sheet that is quite simple but could end up with 1000's of rows of data.
The intended end users are not wildly computer literate but can add new rows of data OK.
It would be good to have a nicer way to view each row of data. I quite like Airtable as it can create a gallery with each 'card' being a single row and is generally much nicer to look at/work with.
The only issue is that their free account has a limit of 1200 rows in a table which my client would exceed within 6 months.
The paid service allows [from] 5000 rows/table but would become quite spendy for what's basically just a nicer way to see the data.
Are there any other options that can automatically sync with a Google Sheet?
I'd hazard that what you need there is a database, not a spreadsheet.
Can Google Forms do this?
Libre Office Base is a free database. Apparently like MS Access was before Microsoft retired it. I shall be looking at that soon to try and convert some databases I have created

Well yes and no. The data being stored would be perfect for a database but the app will only communicate with Google Sheets, Airtable or a cloud SQL database, but the latter would not be good for the client and would incur considerable extra costs.
TBH all I'm doing looking for is a prettier way to see that data.

Google Forms simply stored data in Google Sheets
Sounds like you already have a mobile UI, why not expand that to allow viewing in a way the customer can handle?
Is there a Google version of MS PowerApps?
I could probably knock up a simple mobile friendly PowerApp that connects to a shared Excel file in about 15 mins (and I'm a numpty with hands on stuff)

Are you sure about that. There have been rumours that they were going to retire it for at least 15 years now and they never have. I think the only thing that was actually retired was the web apps part
