Wille Thorn v's Kirk Stevens in the 1983 Masters quarter final at Sheffield. Two of the greatest sportsmen ever in one of the most toxic passive smoking environments on earth.

Not sure of the year, 1988 maybe, Start line of RAC rally in Grizedale I think, Michele Mouton, Walter Rohrl in Audi quattro S4s the ground shaking all around us, then total traction, and they're gone.

Just recently, had a great day out following ToB stage to Dartmouth on Motor bike, saw 4 spots. Such effort from the whole peloton, totally on it!

1972 FA Cup fifth round Orient V Chelsea

All ticket 30,000 crowd at Brisbane Road, muddy pitch in January

O's from the lower reaches of div 2, losing 0-2 after half hour to a Chelsea side that had players like Osgood, Webb, Harris etc etc.

Pulled one back just before half time, drew level about the hour mark and winner came with a minute left

Tempted to pick from a whole host of Celtic games. But I'll not since there's too many that spring to mind.

I'll go for the CL final at Hampden, Leverkusen v Real Madrid, and getting to see Zidane skelp and peach of a goal in the back of the net.

As a bit of side info, all the Lisbon Lions where invited to that game, with the exception being Bobby Murdoch. And as he was from our club, we decided to take along our new banner with his name on it to represent him.

Very fitting as that day was also the 1st year anniversary of his death.

Rangers fans in the crowd weren't best pleased to see a 40ft tricolour at the game, but they weren't the reason we took it.

RIP Bobby.

The Hong Kong Rugby Sevens back when I were a lad living there, especially the teenage years of the late 80's - great atmosphere and non-stop sporting action!

Exeter City Vs Plymouth Argyle sometime in the 80s

The local derby, a hate fuelled grudge match.. I was a young teen, stood on the home terraces freezing, it was close to Christmas..

During a lull, a large chap with a beautiful clear baritone stood right next to me breaks out with this..

Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little lord Jesus woke up and he said

WE HATE ARGYLE

it was a perfect moment and I wept unashamedly

I was stood on the top of the hill above the old hairpin at Donington Park for the 1993 European Grand Prix in the wet, where Senna drove what has been hotly argued as the best lap in a Formula one car in history where he came from the third row and passed everyone by the time he got back to the start line !

Link below

the best lap in an F1 car ever [/url]

A close second was to be stood at the side of the 18th Green at the Belfry when Europe took the USA apart on the final day of the 2002 Ryder cup. (The Paul Mcginley putt year)

Love it - The Latics inspiring a thread for greatest sporting events!!

Very close second are the two Man U v Oldham FA Cup semi's in 1990.
Lucky enough to get tickets for both matches - wonderful games, brilliant atmosphere, amazing support from both sets of fans.

I was there on the loosing side too. Just knew Kanchelskis was going to cause bother in the replay. Just knew it ๐Ÿ™

Boardman's final hour record attempt at Manchester (the Athlete's Record).
I didn't think watching one person ride round a track for an hour would be terribly interesting, but the atmosphere was electric as he slipped behind schedule at half way, gradually clawed it back, and put everything into the last lap to beat the record by metres. Just a wall of noise as he pedalled the final laps.

2011 Trent Bridge Test, the Broad hat trick (he could bowl then).
Dravid hundred the same day!

Old Trafford Ashes Test 2005, Sunday, bowl out Australia, Warne getting 90, then England bat, Strauss gets a hundred, we declare and put them in for a few overs at the end of the day. Brilliant atmosphere, great banter. Vaughan's captaincy, ratcheting up the pressure.

The might Exeter City v Man Utd, FA cup third round. I think it was January 2005. It finished 0-0. The City fans drowned out Fergies prawn munchers. At the end of the game as we stayed to give the City players a standing ovation there were little pockets of City fans all over the stadium. Best chant was possibly "Nice ground s**t fans"
The coach home is a bit of a blur.
Shame they beat us in the replay

ISDE Enduro in Poland

Are you talking about the one in 87?
That was the first of three ISDE's I rode.

My vote goes for the MX GP at Hawstone in 84 when Jobe jumped over Malherbe.

I was stood in the crowd right next to the jump and it just blew me away.
Was a real indication of how MX would change.

I think I've still got Jobe's number bib from this event somewhere at my parents house.

You've got jobes number bib? I know a fair few people who would pay a substantial sum for that. A defining moment in motocross history.

I need to go and sift through all the old tat i left there many moons ago.

Bet it's been thrown out along with most of my old trophys.
Though I think they've still got my ISDE medals.

The Olympics. Even just being in the park was amazing, the noise coming from the stadium as I was walking past it (it was one of the nights that Jess Ennis was in there on her way to heptathlon gold) and the roars from the crowd combined with the general atmosphere in the park were really spine-tingling.

And being track centre in the velodrome as the women's team pursuit squad broke the WR in qualifying and then again later the same day for the gold medal. Wow.

Senna winning at Donington Park in 1993. Incredible drive.
Barry Sheene winning at Oulton Park diving underneath Steve Baker going up Bray Hill - absolutely stunning move.

I've seen hundreds of games at Anfield and would have to say for drama the Champions League game against Olympiakos 2005 takes some beating with Gerrards wonder strike. Also loved the semi-final against Chelsea too for drama.

I found the Olympics to be really inspirational throughout; starting with the opening ceremony which I thought was great

It would have to be the 2000 IOM TT F1 race though, won by Joey Dunlop who was aged 48 at the time. Unfortunately 2000 was his last year on the Island.
