ROAM does it for me - specifically the Whistler section, really captures what MTB is about

24 Solo

...Although the bit at the start of that trailer cracks me up:"It's raining, torriential downpour, lightning every 5 seconds, huge thunderclaps, driving winds: it's insane out there!" - Just looks like a normal Mayhem to me...

Follow me, 3 minute gaps and 3focus

Just some of the camera angles and general filming are pretty cool and amazing riding/ scenery/locations make them my favourites.

Liked roam, I think I preferred seasons personally. There's something inspiring about seeing people who can ride a bike far more skilfully than I'll ever manage.

The sweary northerners vids are good for showing normal folk riding tricky stuff. I prefer the demonstration of riding ability aspect to the provocation aspect, intended or not.

I think Rupert likes them best of all ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just watched Vast again, and I reckon it takes the title for me. The riding's not the most jawdropping, not compared to your Collectives etc but it has a sense of humour, a great soundtrack, a good variety of interesting riding, and a better eye for the backdrop and situation than any others I can think of. Yep, pretty fab. And dirt cheap on itunes.

Can't go too wrong with Seasons though.

I'm with Northwind. I LOVED Vast when I saw it at the same screening as Lifecycles. Lifecycles was beautifully made but didn't make me want to ride my bike in the same way as Vast. I like the fact that although I know I'll never ride as well as them, the riding seems a little closer to achievable than a lot of the other videos.

I found Vast a bit boring. It would be fun to ride but dull to watch imo.

I liked NWD10

The Sprung vids were great. Got me into 'proper' mountain biking. Hilarious to watch now of course, some of that darth vader body armour... ๐Ÿ™‚ Chainspotting was also watched to death.

On the interweb it's this one as, for me, it totally encapsulates how much fun MTB is:

+100 for Dirt- JMC was a biking god! God rest his soul ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Such a feel good film, it always makes me want to go ride my bike.

Also +1 for ROAM and the Collective.

Might i add Cassette

While its not an MTB film it is small wheelers at their very jaw dropping best. Bloody good soundtrack too....

There's two types of MTB movie for me: those that amaze and those that inspire. I'll never tire of seeing Mackaskill perform that front flip to flat off that bothy in Skye, nor of the big air movies; the kind of stuff that astounds me. As a couple of people said above, Vast is a good one to inspire since it combines the feel of a big movie with top riders, but in settings that are mostly realistic targets for the average rider. Ditto for Dirt.

I think Chris Askrigg manages to amaze and inspire better than anyone. There's no way I'll ever have 1% of his talent, but he makes me want to get on my bike more than anyone. A Hill in Spain is brilliant

My absolute very favourite at the moment is Danny Hart's World Champs winning run from Champery though. It sends shivers through me

As a full film then Seasons is probably the most complete. Earthed 4 is a cracking watch too.

Short videos then I'd agree with stilltortoise re Danny Hart although the Sweary Northerners never fail to raise a smile.

Some nice riding on a hardtail round whistler, definately putting a trip there on the bucket list!

I also remember a video i saw ages ago of some guys attempting dh on kids balance bikes, probably the funniest mtb vid i've seen, but I can't find it now ๐Ÿ™

Clorophilia and Life Cycles. As mentioned elsewhere, Life Cycles is a bit pretentious but it is well edited and beautifully shot.

Klunkerz is the all time greatest. The most inspiring video I've seen yet. It goes way beyond just being a history documentary.

I always really like Joe Barnes' stuff - always good fun and plenty of loose slidey stuff. Always makes me want to go and tear a big rut in a hillside somewhere.
