The Honda ones are superb, but I do like that Audi one. Saw it in the cinema, thought it'd be epic but they turn the sound system down for the ads ๐Ÿ™

I think the R8 advert is just a reasonably well executed CGI animation, the likes and quality of which have been knocking around since Gran Turismo 2 first came out.

The idea, I guess, is to persuade your average Audi A1 diesel owner that they've bought into some world-class engineering and racing heritage. If that's the sentiment that makes a good car advert, I'd say it's hard to beat Honda's "The Impossible Dream" from a couple of years back:

EDIT: as geoffj has already pointed out

Are you sure? Doesn't look CGI to me.

I love the Honda ones too, but they seem to advertising the brand more than an particular product.

Maybe it the type of car in the Audi ad. It's not a practical car, so no need to think of clever or amusing ways to describer how silent/economical/spacious/compact etc it is. It's a performance car - so here's the engine. Revving and glowing. Simple and evocative. As i said, it's the first car ad i've seen that make me want the product they are advertising. Pity i'll never have the money for one ๐Ÿ˜€

CGI? No, it's a very cheap ad. a load of kino-flows, small set build round a rolling road, no B cam and a Milo motion control rig. very little post work.

The R8 advert makes me feel funny inside. Dream car for me, long before that advert.

Don't get why anyone would think its CGI, it's about as un-CGI as an advert could be ๐Ÿ˜•

Can I be cheeky and put a bike advert in?

Love this one especially with it being on the Isle Of Man.

The Manx GP starts today and will hopefully have the bikes flying past the end of our road in only a few hours....... if the rain clears off ๐Ÿ™„

Really? Have a look at any number of intro movies from driving sims on last-gen consoles, and even replays on current-gen ones. They're easily as realistic as the R8 piece.

Am I the only one that finds that R8 advert shit? Engine sounds rubbish, it's like there's not enough load on the dyno to make it work.
