Hmm - I want to be 12.5 stone! Maybe I'll sweat down from 14!

I found last year that my Altura Transformer was ace - kept me warm an not very sweaty with a 90min window for rain. I tended to ride in that and keep a montane velo nearby - the two together would probably be as close to hot/dry ish as I'd ever want to be.

I am on search for an "ideal" jacket hence reading this thread, but I'm think the only real compromise is to accept that you will get wet, so just try to do the best you can to stay warm.

@ crikey if you are reading this - which Castelli arm warmers - nanoflex?

Sorry, been watching that bloody bake off thing.

No, I've not got the Nanoflex armwarmers, just standard Roubaix lycra ones. At this time of year I don't mind having wet forearms; they act like a radiator for when you get too hot.

The short sleeves on the Gabba and on the Sottile shorty jacket are very reminiscent of the way we used to cut down the boil-in-the-bag jackets for racing. Short sleeves on waterproofs are a great idea for everything other than long freezing winter rides; I can't remember ever getting cold arms!

Anyone got an Endura Flite or Windchill II jacket then? They both look good.

So I got my new jackets. Turns out I'm a fat b@@s. None of this roadie kit seems to fit! So back to square one. Need to pick MTB or general outdoor stuff me thinks.
