popped my bernzomatic torch onto a map gas cylinder to finish off some creme brûlée and the gas just rushed out of the hole under the control button. Unscrewed it pretty quickly from the canister!

OK, it’s a few, maybe up to 3, years old but it’s only been used a dozen times.

any suggestions on possible repairs? Or should I just pop it back to Screwfix using the MSE sad fart rules?

I had a minor house fire caused by a leaking / damaged chef's mini blowtorch.
Just get a new one.

Try on a different canister, I had a similar experience with a new can of gas. Also possible that the o ring seal has lost it's elasticity and gone square.

Lastly heed Matt's advice

Cheers. Will try with a handy canister of butane.

Chef’s blowtorch. Had one. Gave it away when I got a Searzall attachment. http://www.bookeranddax.com/searzall-series
