When I attempt to view it automatically goes to the .com website on my iPad but .co.uk on my iPhone?
Anyone know why?
presumably one thinks you are in the US and one does not
I sometimes set google search to .com to avoid EU search rules and this affects other websites as well- which then annoys me so i set it back.
Dont use apple though so no idea if this can happen on their devices
Location settings and sharing? Mobile data picking up the location and ipad not?

I remember when .com would have got you Boston Business Computing. Used to use it as an example when teaching to show how each part of the URL mattered. The Beeb payed them $375,000 to buy it off them.
What are EU search rules?
I think Junkyard is referring to the "right to be forgotten" where you can request google won't respond to requests to bring back bits of your life you'd rather forget. Only applies in EU. If you go with google.com/ncr (no country redirect) it's almost like having a World Wide Web again rather than one that wants you to look in your own back yard.

IPlayer is geo-location restricted, nothing to do with the BBC, it's the content providers wanting to charge per territory so the BBC have to go along with it

The BBC being one of them who fund themsleves selling their original content around the world. The Geo stuff also serves ad's to people outside of the UK on news and sport pages.
