(...No, not the Jasper Carrott series!)

Not seen a thread about this, it's about the police attempting to take down an OCG in Rochdale. Well worth a watch if you haven't seen it so I won't give any spoilers but jeez, what a colossal bunch of scumbags.

Can't imagine being a cop and having to come into contact with these upstanding characters every day.

Makes you wonder as well, what possible future a lot of these towns have with these gangsters running around. Need to get some sensible drug policy in place to get control back. **** knows how though.

We enjoyed it at our house. The first series a year or two back was good as well.

Yeah grim viewing. Have you googled the name of person pictured at the very end? (Trying not to give spoilers).

Yeah was interesting to watch. I live in Manchester and I get the impression this type of criminal activity is at pretty epic levels compared to years gone by, but largely hidden or at least kind of able to be wilfully ignored by the majority of people for the majority of the time.

From the little I read about and see in the media it also seems surprisingly accessible if you are willing to take a risk- if you are willing to procure an encrochat phone (or whatever replaced it) and stump up for a kilo or two I think there's a fairly open wholesale market you can procure from and make a profit.

But yeah the gang's behaviour was depressing and shi**y, seems to take a huge amount of resources to tackle them and I assume the vacuum they leave if or when they are busted is pretty much immediately filled by someone else.

Gripping TV.

Absolute bombshell at the end. Some very brave people tackling these scum.

Hard viewing but good to watch.  A very sad ending though.

The Met on BBC1 is pretty good too, again hard viewing in places.

I'd forgotten it was on, thanks for the reminder.

May give the Met series a look as well.

@mikeyp There's always far more to these stories than will ever see the light of day, so perhaps just accept that the right decisions are (mostly) happening.

I think we need to see more of this difficult and dangerous work appearing in the public eye, let people see the outcome of years of cuts across the board in everything from policing to community support of every kind.

Excellent documentary - it was interesting to hear the length of time and resources required to put these scumbags behind bars.

Oof, yes that was a bittersweet ending.

I think we need to see more of this difficult and dangerous work appearing in the public eye, let people see the outcome of years of cuts across the board in everything from policing to community support of every kind.

Totally agree, anyone who's ever said "why aren't you catching the real criminals?" should have to watch.

But can imagine these particular episodes fueling some people's prejudices.
