Saw an S8 the other week, kept hoping the owner would turn up so I could have a listen to the V10, went for a coffee and it had gone when I came back. 😐

I've also got a bit of a thing for near fully depreciated luxobarges. I've considered a Phaeton before, as well as the C6.

I doubt I'll ever do it, but I like your chutzpah monkeysfeet..!

Always had a love for big cars. I grew up in Southport, the local motorbike dealer had a Lotus Carlton (1988 i think) then he bought a Tickford Capri. Amazing cars. Between me and my younger brother we have had a couple of Volvo s60's, vauxhall Senator 3.0, Nissan Maxima to name a few...

... he said big money would be cambelt/exhaust system/brakes but no worse than top end BMW or Audi.

Cam belt on A4 3.0 V6 quoted to me as about £500 from my local independent garage (whom I completely trust to look after my car).

Worldclassaccident once told us new discs and pads on his big Merc were £1,200...

Front pads and discs on mine were £200 fitted from the same garage. The Phaeton is a heavier car to stop, so maybe add a bit onto that - but surely not a grand!

WCA must have used a main dealer.

I was a bit concerned about the running costs of a bigger engine than I've ever had before, but apart from 28mpg (= ~22p per mile) it's all been good so far.

Good luck!
