Is it just me - but it isnt that Barca werent that great tonight but that Man Utd were that bad? The media seem to think that its all about how great Barca were..
Ah, come on, Scummers! it's only a bit of footie banter! Earlier, we had people talking about how Manure could go on and dominate Yerp, like Liverpool did, how they are one of the 'best teams in the World', and Fergie banging on about being the first club to retain the CL.
So, pride cometh before a fall...
Suck it up. You know there are millions of footie fans throughout the land, who love to see such a big club fail. I remember the stick Liverpool got, after the 2007 final, mainly from Manure and Cheatski fans.
Man U won the league 'cos Liverpool failed to win games they only drew, rather than being utterly dominant throughout the entire season (as they have been in the past). S'been a good, close fought campaign. Man U have been the best team in England, over the last two decades. So, stop yer whinging, dry yer eyes, and thank God yer not Newcastle fans... 😉

To summarize bit of shit game got undone by a couple of world class midfielders, and congrats to henry a deserved champs league medal.
I can't believe fergie sent them out that way playing long ball, is not a united tradition, we can do it but if we planned it berba would have started. United just freaked after the goal which is rarely seen. Still better performance than against fulham.

Didn't think either team really excelled tbh - suppose Barcelona did quite well at stopping United playing their normal game but they were hardly inspirational.
How did Messi manage to score that header? Hes only 5ft 7in?! Some v poor defending from Man Utd for both goals really - I think thats what undid them more than anything else.

FFS, Barca make no secret of how they're going to play every game. So those five minute spells when they just moved the ball between each other in close contact without a Utd player even getting a sniff of it? That's not excelling? If that's not excelling then Utd must be nowhere near as good as they've been telling us.

Granted RePack, the defending wasn't great by Vidic for the first and Franz could have been better positioned for the second...but the undoing of Utd was in not letting them have to ball for most of the game. It unsettled them so much. FFS, they were trying route-one with about twenty minutes to go they were so befuddled.
They both had purple patches yes but I think as good as Barca were - Man Utd were as bad. So many passes gone a stray, so few passes made, attackers given too much space, so few decent attacking moves..From a team (Man Utd) with great attacking ability they created v little. As for Barca, well they made the most of very slack defending but I didnt see the total football that Barca are capable of delivering.

No keeping the ball for a bit is not excelling, sorry. They were just not enthralling to watch at all - for all their possession they didn't create that many decent chances.

christ thats an understatement i was screaming at them to do something. chelsea and liverpool are both great at route one, United can play it but not for a whole game not against barca should have stood toe to toe but ultimatly xavi and ineista are currently better than carrick and who ever else plays. Missed hargreaves type player

United had no tempo, didn't press & defended poorly for both goals. As soon as Barca scored Utd didn't have any response, I expected them to come out after half time (they were back on the pitch early enough) & play at a much higher tempo, but they didn't.
Utd's performance tonight was just a bit meh.
Poor. Very poor. I thought Barca were made to look good, and they don't need much help at that. If you let them play they look great. But even Chelsea showed in the semi that if you hustle them and play hard and at tempo they can be ordinary.
If Utd had a midfield on the pitch tonight they might've been able to do that. But I couldn't see one. They really needed Hargreaves to rise Lazarus-like from his treatment table.
I know playing Rooney wide has worked before, but I've always thought it was a waste. And overly consevative too, esp against a team you don't want to give the upper hand to and one with a not-great defence. He's a number 10. Play him off a striker FFS.

I really thought Utd would win - after Chelsea showed a way in which to play Barca i.e. high tempo & hustle them you can knock them out of their stride. Couple that with Utd's attacking potential - I really thought Utd would win..

Turned on the TV last night at 9pm to watch 'Britain's got talent' on ITV1 but I saw this instead

Loving all this talk of Barcelona being average and Man Utd playing badly and making them look good, FFS. Barcelona won at a canter. Utd were poor and played route one because the Barca back 4 played a high line and condensed the game, Utd never had the personel to play the short, tight passing game that this created. Barca did, excellent gameplan from Guardiola. Iniesta and Xavi were so dominant and played with so much energy that the Utd midfield hardly sniffed the ball and when they did, the only option was a long ball. Utd's mistake was not playing the long ball (it was their only option) but not finding a way to exploit it.
The best side won and they were excellent.
